The white material will not really stain unless you rub grime or oil on it. It can be cleaned quite easily by rubbing acetone or isopropyl alcohol on it with a rag.

I am thinking about getting a 2.0" STi knob here but I am wondering how the material holds up against solvents and such.

I am in the Air Force and use a lot of chemicals to include aliphatic naptha and MEK which tends to get on my hands and it transferred over to shift knob no matter how much I clean my hands. I see this as the clear coat that is on my Impul titanium knob is deteriorating because of the residual chemicals.

I hate it and I don't want to buy you knob and have the chemicals damage it. Hopefully you can answer this one for me as I know it is out there a bit.

"t3h f4stAr": You are on the list.

"MadMan77": The full material name is called Acetal Copolymer. There is some data available about its resistance to chemicals. I found this info for you:

"MATERIALS TO AVOID: STRONG ACIDS AND OXIDIZING AGENTS." and McMaster-Carr quotes it as having "excellent chemical resistance". Im not sure of the solvents you use at work, so I cannot give a definite answer if they will damage this material or not. It wouldn't be difficult for me to take the knob and re-cut a new layer off of it if the outer surface gets really decayed after a year or so. I could turn off like 0.01" if it gets bad...
