ya its definately not as heavy as the stock shift knob (06 atleast) but anyways i like it better. Its lower and makes the shifts shorter. Plus IMO it looks better.

its not heavier but it sits lower and it makes it seem like the shifts are shorter. The material that its made out of is much lighter than the stock one and the stock shift knob must have some like lead in it or something cuz its smaller and heavier. I like the new one though cuz its a bit bigger around

Yeah but I thought that's what the brass insert was for. I'll just have to wait and see how I like it when I receive it.

Can others chime in to confirm the weight of the ball? Maybe some are heavier than the other? Was hoping for it to weigh more than stock as well.

" All the STi knobs weigh 69 grams.
My solid copolymer STi Sphere weighs 80 grams, and 105 with the brass insert offered here."
-As stated in initial post.
Sounds like a pretty precise guy, and I've heard no complaints. I'm betting it's 65% heavier then stock. We'll know for sure when mine arrives
Until then, no worries.

I think the confusion is because different year STis have different knobs on them.
I PERSONALLY measured "x00's" 2005 STi stock Shiftknob and it was only 69 grams. This is the same weight as the 2004 as well.

My 2" Copolymer/brass knob weighs 105 grams, so this is a good improvement. The 2.25" knob weighs about 130-140 grams due to larger size (but it's not for everybody if you have small hands)

Now, I have never measured the 06/07 STi knob, so I dont know if it is more or less. I assumed they all have the same knob, but apparently the slant-eyes have a heavier one?

For the blobeyes, the improvement is in shorter height, and more weight (and the personal benefits of appearance or feel). For the 06/07's, the benefits would be the shorter weight and the feel/appearance if the weight is actually lighter.

Anybody have an accurate gram scale to measure one 06/07 knob?

Thanks for finishing my 2.25" Chris, I'm excited to feel it in the car!
