Default Blown engines running meth

Just curious of how many engines you guys have blown have also been running meth.

I destroyed my rods with 450whp on stock block with pistons and coolingmist meth setup. Trying to decide to keep the meth or ditch it.

how much boost were you running, and did the meth freeze up?

the meth isn't what blew your motor, the fact you had 450whp on the stock block did with high boost probably?

450whp will definately kill the block eventually.

The only safe stock block to my knowledge is 400whp. 350 for good measure.

i dynoed sat at 409awhp 25psi on 93 plus meth, and the AFR's were in the mid 10's so it was running pig rich, it will be retuned soon and theres a good 50-100whp in there at the same boost levels

Was running 26psi with the meth on 93 octane. I think I just had too much power for the stock rods. But I know meth is supposed to be corrosive so I'm just wondering if it's possible that meth can weaken a motor. I was around 10.8 a/f

No way was it meth..........plus it all burns up when it goes in......basically makes you run 100+ Octane levels...at that power level, you were asking for it eventually. Get forged internals and keep the meth and that big bright smile everytime you smash the gas pedal!

Probablem now is saving the money for the new setup. Going to take forever! I want atleast a stage 3 block, race bearings, headwork, etc. Probably going to go with a 35r this time so that I don't have to push the car so hard.

have you cracked the blown motor open yet? I dont see how people drop $6-8k on a new motor, when they can re-use the blown one and build it alot cheaper.

I'm going to split it open this weekend and take a look and see if i can figure out what happened.

sounds like what happened to me: 93 + meth + 25psi + 470 whp + stock block + spot of bad gas (maybe?) = broken rod + big hole in the case

you'd better have your heads looked at/reconditioned. there's a really good chance the piston banged it pretty good when the rod broke.

2005 STI

It was running pretty good after getting the injectors cleaned. Then I got gas that day and the rough idle came back and blew later that afternoon. We suspected bad gas also. But really no way to prove it.

Visually we looked at the heads and they look ok. Tech poured some kind of liquid into the ports and it didn't leak from the valves so we're just putting them back on.

ohh....That suck!! I guess that would do it. It usually pretty hard to do that much damage to an sti block.
