At the rate of speed in which a motor is rotating, you most likely would not catch in time to save your motor. 22 psi is most likely to much for pump, but it all depends on the octane of gas you are running. There are some injection systems out there that offer safeguards. It might be worth looking into one of those systems if you are really wanting to do injection, but to me it still isn't worth it. I can also tell you from experience that the UTEC my retard timing if knock is detected, but it is very slow at reacting to it. I had the UTEC on my 03 WRX and I remember it retarding timing a few times, but it wasn't fast enough for me to not notice the rattle of beebees in a can that was coming from my motor knocking. This was when the first UTEC came out so I'm sure its improved, but most tuners prefer an ecu reflash over a piggyback anyday of the week. This ad is not endorsed by this member. | Amateur STI Driver | I thought I would add this... 93 octane... 22 to 24 psi... Meth injection... over 400whp... At almost 36,000 on stock engine... Daily driver... Meth doesn't kill motors.... Tunes do.... |

Meth is not an issue, as it evaporates so fast and is burned so fast that there is NO corrosion to engine parts from it. The problem comes from when there is TOO MUCH sprayed and/or the tune is not right. It's been used since WWII. It's not the problem. Be good, TomK

What happens if you have a higher HP setup (e.g. your alky nozzle is bigger) and you hit the test button at a traffic light. But revs are up slightly. Is it burned up fast then?

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | I've got 36,000 miles on my 2005 STI. SZ49 with methanol injection at 22-23 psi making about 410 whp and 440 wtq. No problems yet. I've had my car modded for 20,000 miles. No increased oil consumption. No leaking at all. Runs smooth and crisp. Maybe I won the mod your car and it runs well lottery. Of course, my luck and the car will suffer some catastrophic failure soon. I continue to make offerings to the subaru gods for their favor and my gratitude. |
