I HAD an 04 STI with SZ55 setup plus supporting mods and SMC injection kit. I put down 412whp on a mustang dyno. AFRs were way rich. The motor didn't blow, but I had massive compression loss on all four cylinders, and massive oil consumption. I don't know any other way this could happen other than the meth / water mix flushed out my cylinderwalls. I won't be doing meth injection on my new ride.

According to who and what dyno is 400 whp safe? I was under this misconception for a long time and if I were to get another STI I wouldn't push is anywhere near 400whp. 350 whp would probably be a good number, but again...on what dyno? That changes things drastically.

topspeed has a lot of STi's in the 400's and 500's whp on stock blocks running meth injection kits.

My motor cracked the #4 ring lands and I did have meth injection, but I don't really think that the two are related, at least in my case.

And this is why I have to be content with my 350whp 93 octane sippin' 20G setup
There is just no way in hell I could foot the bill for a motor rebuild

It just seems odd that the few in this thread that mentioned they have had major engine problems all were running methanol injection. Its a great power adder and safeguard but I think I will pass on injection on my daily driver. 375whp-400whp sounds reasonable with a good tune.

AwdMonsta and Ninjaboy76-How long (mileage) did you run your turbo/meth setup before you experienced issues?

Anywhere from 23-26psi. The car made 415whp @ 26psi on KTR's unmolested dyno dynamics, 200whp more than a stock STI makes there.

I think that the meth injection just delayed the inevitable...
