So I would eventually like to add water/meth injection to my car, but would not like rapid cylinder wear from washing like this thread shows.

rapid cylinder wear w/pics - evolutionm.net

"Are my systems properly atomized? People need to understand what this means. Atomize by definition means to break up into small droplets. Doesn't matter how small the droplets are. Fog is droplets in the air about as small as they can get. Does fog make your windshield wet? Of course it does. Your IC pipes and your intake manifold are like your windshield. They collect fluid on the inner surface even when the mixture is pulverized to oblivion. my pumps bench test at near 250psi. The spray that comes out of the jets is atomized quite nicely.

I think he means that even with the throttle closed the accumulation of meth dropplets on the walls on the intake manifold will still have access to be burned by the motor even with the throttle plate closed. Also even with the plate close, there is still some air that goes into the motor to keep it idling."

I thought up a plan this morning in the shower. How bout getting the APS tumbler delete,

APS DR Series Tumbler Valve Delete Manifold Housing

because it also has 4 auxiliary injector holes. APS planned for the stock injectors to be used, and more fuel injectors to turn on at high power levels. I don't like this, because it would require an aftermarket ecu.

I would like to use large fuel injectors, and have the 4 aux holes with the stock injectors controlled by a meth/water injection system. This should allow precision metering, and i hope have no chance of washing the cylinder walls.

Does anyone see any problems with trying this setup or have any thoughts?

Why are you trying to over complicate a simple system which has been proven over, and over, and over, again?

If your meth system fails, will the ecu knock sensor kick in and save your engine?

How much cost per gallon of gas does meth add? (not couting initial cost of the system) I assume its still cheaper than race gas.

i would say that by the time the knock is detected, it will likely be at a timing and boost level that neither the ECU nor gasoline octane rating will be able to save from damage.

How much does meth cost, how often does it need to be refilled, and where do you purchase it? This would be some practical info to add.

Holy revival Batman!

That's OK.

Meth is about $35 per 5 gallons which you will mix 50/50 with water (10 gallons = $35 ready to run) Since meth is only used at higher boost/injector duty cycles etc, it will last a long time on the street and less so at the track. It acts like expensive race gas but only adds pennies to your fuel costs once it's installed and tuned properly.

I buy my meth from Leroy at the stop-n-go.

You can also find meth at any motorcycle shop that sells VP race gas. They may need to special order it but it shouldnt be a big deal.

forgot one thing.......unless i missed it, yes water injection cools, cleans, helps engines designed to run on high octane LEADED fuel run on unleaded lower octane fuel, raises compression a bit yes, AND here it is: water in the cylinder when compressed can split atoms of H2O and thus release oxygen so works excellent with methanol. it was largely used in cars that were struggling to run the new UNLEADED lower octane fuel so now we use it to make power and run smoother and better

A few quick questions as I decide whether or not to pay up for such a system (that sounds cool on the surface).

1) So how much of a difference in power (hp and torque) does methanol-water injection make over stock for '08 sti?
2) What's the difference in power with getting the car tuned to the meth-water injection setup, vs just installing the injection setup without tuning the car for it?
3) Finally, how does a meth-water injection setup affect/change which maps I should/can use for an AccessPort? Since this injection system effectively increases the octane of the fuel I use, can I use 91 california octane fuel, with the meth-water injection setup, and use a 93 octane map?

Thankx.

1. All depends in the tune and how aggressive your tuner goes most say about 50 give or take.

2. If you dont tune the car and run meth you will lose power. If you just run water you want lose power but you really will only gain a few hp.

3. You need a protuned map if you want to get the best out of running an injection system. Plus 91+ meth will have an octane rating of around 105 if i remember my math right.

Look for the other thread that has sticky in the title it has all this information in it plus what was in this one but someone decided to unsticky it and sticky this old one back up the no one edits the first page anymore. but whatever.
