IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2006 Trader Rating: (8) | Doug tuned my car on 50/50 but I'm wondering if it would be harmful to adjust the ratio with a little more meth and a little less water since it's getting colder or would it even be worthwhile to do it at all. I know it can be an issue to lower the meth content but not sure about adding some. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2006 Trader Rating: (23) | it will enrich your a/f slightly. obviously depending on the meth:water ratio. i used to do this on track days on my evo. it raises the detontaiion threshold which is beneficial your turbo/engine/egt get hot. |

IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2006 Trader Rating: (8) | So no issues and some benefit to going from 50/50 to say 70/30? Is there any noticable power increase or just more consistent. What did you change your ratio to at the track? |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2006 Trader Rating: (23) | it's not that the octane will go up, it's that the det threshold, a:f will go up. i used 70:30 |

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | I was thinking the same thing. Im tuned for 50/50 and want to go to 70/30. If its real cold out will 50% water have a harder time atomizing??? |

| S204 Racer | According to what I've read, a 50-50 mix has a freezing point @ -50f. Thus, unless someone is in the middle of an Alaskan cold-wave I can't imagine that atomization is going to be much of a problem since meth and water are 100% miscible. Insofar as tuning, my tuner has told me there isn't a whole lot more horsepower to be gained by pushing the meth component above 50% - certainly not enough to offest the additional risk of having a molotov ****tail in the trunk of your car. But, that's what I've heard, combined with my opinion - ymmv. |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2005 Trader Rating: (4) | I think that is a fair statement until you go to 100 % meth at which point you will definately have to be re-tuned. I think your gains will need to come from somewhere else now...Time for a bigger snail and you can join us 500 Whp folks..... |

IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2006 Trader Rating: (8) | I'm trying to decide between an FPred or green and which front mount to get. Green for good spool on the street or red for lots of ponies. Hmmmm. Just don't want to frag a piston or two. Or four. I'm leaning toward a Green with an APS 725 and Nismo injectors. APS inlet pipe too. |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2005 Trader Rating: (4) | I think your very level headed about your goal. Also you have nothing to worry about piston wise. The injection is your added protection. There are plenty of us still running stock internals and will be for a long time (I hope...), my goal is to prove the nay sayers wrong!!! This ad is not endorsed by this member.
