IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2005 Trader Rating: (3) | Hey! I was protuned last weekend on an eddie current mustang dyno at Kito Autosports in Seattle, WA by Tim Bailey of PDX Tuning. Here's the link to the full write up- skip to page four: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...1094764&page=4 Here's the results: Comparison of my base line (stage2 Protune) run and final (PDX stage2 plus Meth Protune) ![]() Here's the PDX protune stage2 compared with the PDX Meth tune: ![]() I can say that my car is perfect right now. I love it! I think I turned Tim from PDX into a 100% Meth believer!!!! I am now a meth addict!!!!! This is on a 06 sti with just a COBB Catted downpipe and COBB AP with an ALKYCONTROL kit.... Thank you Tim (PDX Tuning) and Julio (ALKYCONTROL)!!!!! James This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2005 Trader Rating: (3) | http://www.alkycontrol.com/ Call Julio 727-526-9724 and he will take care of you! What's interesting, is I had my initial- although conservative- stage 2 protune done by Christian from COBB. On that Mustang dyno (Dyno Authority in Redmond), the end results were something like 289ft/lbs and 270 hp. We thow my car on this much newer mustang dyno with a couple extra parts on my car (light wieght wheels and a acpt driveshaft) and I was thinking that i would make a whp and wft/lb more or two somewhere in the rpm range. That was wishful thinking.... I put down around 240ft/lbs and 230hp or so.... A lot lower than what I was expecting; Tim from PDX said I could come down and throw my car on his dyno just so he can compare the results with similar cars with aqumist water injection- he was impressed enough to say that he's putting a 100% Meth kit on his car and he thinks that the Kito autosports dyno reads really low. All in all, I think I made 326ft/lbs (uncorrected) and 289hp (uncorrected)- all the graphs are corrected. I seriously love where my car is right now! If you have been thinking about going with Meth or water injection- do Meth, it's really addictive!! Just get a good tuner (like Tim) and you won't be able to get rid of the smile on your face for days! |

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2005 Trader Rating: (3) | Gas, what's that????? Aren't you supposed to run just straight meth????? I'll get better gas milage that way! This was 12 pulls and four days of extremely throttle happy driving.... One downside of having the meth is I get up to 100mph way too quick and 100+mph howling starts so much quicker. I need to figure out how to make the howling start at about 150mph instead. "Everyone I've given rides to ask what's that noise?" I come up with witty comments about how it's my guardian angel howling becuase he's having so much fun going fast!" or it's my, "Are you sure you really want to be going this fast right now, warning sound?" Yes, meth is fun! |

explain? Too much h20 washes the walls too. Don't see the problems with straight alcohol other than damage to plastics and rubber. | |

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2005 Trader Rating: (3) | Basically, the meth is tuned (I am in no way an expert- these are just assumptioins) just like having secondary injectors. You actually pull fuel out when the meth starts to ramp up. With the first run, when we first activated the meth kit, the car bogged really bad becuase of all the extra fuel. Tim worked that out really quick. If it is tuned correctly, then you don't have to worry about washing the cylinders down- just like if you run too large of a pump and injectores, you "could" wash your cylinders down, but that is why you get everything tuned! I'm not worried, my exhuast smells and looks a lot better- it's cleaner and there are no signs of any detonation, overly richness, leanness, coolant leaks, or anything else.. It's actually interesting watching and listening to the engine and exhuast(especially the smell, color, density) during a tune- the gases get cleaner looking and less rich smelling and the engine sounds meaner and more effecient as the tune goes on. I took another sti owner for a drive tonight, and he said the feeling in the Passenger seat reminded him of his borther's or friend's stage two supra- I think that was a complement.... |

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2005 Trader Rating: (3) | This last weekend I went on a trip and followed some friends (another STI and an RX8) along some windy back roads leading towards the Oregon coast. It was a two hour drive, of full throttle second and third gear shifting up and down- It was absolutely incredible! We pretty much only stopped to let my friend let his girlfriend who has never gotten car sick before in her life, get some fresh air. It seriously was the most fun I've had in my car! I also did a whole bunch of 0-130 runs, and a couple spirited drives here and there and ended up using about 3 gallons of METH. So I definately go through the stuff! I always carry an extra 1.5 gallons in addition to my 12L tank. I really love my car! This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
