Default Water injection...and what you want and expect. Small rant

Water injection has been used in the racing and performance scene for many many years despite the relativly new companies that seem to be popping up all over the place.

What I have noticed is that alot of these companies seem to take a generally DIY approach to the kits they sell.

Brass fittings that appear to be of home depot quality, generic pumps that look like bildge pumps from the boating world and some using fuel pumps. All in all, very disappointing to me, a consumer first and DIY maniac second. None of these seem to meet up to my standards, I mean turning a knob to adjust something is easy and all, but do i really want a knob regulating water, meth or even alcohal into my engine?

OK, so fine, alot of great reps thus far in this industry, alot of opinions as to what you should spend and what you should get for your money, so here is my thoughts...

I am nuts, I want the best quality, the best parts and I want something that is designed to do what its built for. More money, so be it...Function over form and you get what you pay for.

So, now that my rant is over...

How would everyone feel about a purpose built Water, meth, alky injection kit. Something that was solely designed from the smallest fitting all the way to the pump and controller to be strictly a water, meth alky kit? All stainless fittings to resist and prevent any reaction to the chemicals introduced to the system as well as heat. A nozzle that emits such a fine mist that the liquid immediatly evaporates, a pump that is regulated by the controller and can provide enough fluid flow to cover up to 1200hp applications and a controller that can be plugged directly into a laptop and has windows based software to control the flow and regulate based on map psi, rpms, af ratios or even intertor duty cycle.

Now, how about if this kit was under 1000 bucks?

This is a query. Nothing is made and nothing is for sale. Just checking to see if interest is there for this type of setup. This would be for high end enthusiast who want and expect the absolute best from their parts...

The first of its kind will be installed on my personal sti by the end of sept with a comprehensive post showing the detailed install. (yes, I will pay a vendor fee before I try to sell anything on these forums)

LMK what you all think of my idea, if nothing else I will at least have the coolest (pun intended) alky kit on any subie.

i see where you are going, and i like this idea. However, i just dont see why people wouldn't go with a kit that's 1/2 that price and dont have a history of failing, leaking, etc..

If it aint broke dont fix it kind of deal.

a good idea for your kit would be a really good failsafe of some kind. that would help it sell i think.

good luck and keep us updated!

Very close...But Im still not a fan of the pump.

Also, this is only good with a Hydra. What i am talking about has stand alone windows software so it can be set up with any EMS.

I agree that the requirement of the Hydra makes this kit unavailable for a lot of people. I think if you really want to get people interested you would need to describe the benefits over the existing kits (besides saying the others use cheap parts or the like); compare it to something high end like an Aquamist 2d or something.

BTW why aren't you a fan of the Hydramist pump? It is specifically designed and produced for this kit by Shurflo; it isn't some generic off the shelf pump. The specs were created by Richard L and Phil G, and Shurflo is a respected pump manufacturer.
