Default Straight water injection without tune?

I know running a water/meth mix requires a tune however can I run just straight water only for the cooling effect without the tune? Just curious since its getting blazing hot out and I want to make sure the system works before my tune on the 1st.

^^^ ????

IMHO, not a problem running water injection on top of a 'whatever' tune. The problem is when you inject meth. If you inject straight water, IMHO, no problem.

Even straight water injection requires a re-tune since the octane of the mixture is decreased - I've seen some of PDXT's same-car maps and they are pretty different. At the very least I wouldn't beat on it at all until I got it re-tuned.

I've been doing it for ... 4 months now?

No big deal, just expect to lose about 20hp. If it was too hot for your previous tune, you may actually have a happier tune.

I have even been injecting 50/50, though Im all over the AFRs.

Yeah, you should need a retune if you are mixing 50/50. Else you are running crazy rich.

I didnt tell you what size jet Im running

Yeah, Im doing it... it brought my AFRs down about .5.

Retuen was supposed to be on wednesday, but Ecutek puts security "features" on the 06 Ecutek licenses that make it impossible for a Cobb AP to work. My AP and my ECM are going to Cobb overnight tomorrow. THen back again to a hopeful retune with Tim.

I guess Im not sure what you think is happeneing thats detrimental if Im .5 richer and monitoring every step of the way.

That depends entirely on the jet and the tune prior... and I dont think "crazy" would be the case almost in an form, unless folks are running a 1mm jet and spraying over 0psi.

So whats the concensus here? Should I bother since my tune is only 2 1/2 weeks away? Also where have you guys mounted the pump? Underhood or other places?

DO NOT run the meth or water without a tune. Spare yourself the problems. Just unplug the controller so it won't spray and your tuner will purge the system when he tunes the car.

OK I'll just wait till the tune but would still like to know different places to mount the pump. Right now I have it next to the intake.
