| Amateur STI Driver | Heres the scenario: 06 sti only mod is blitz nur spec exhaust so far, the car will see bolt ons in the near future including intake, turbo inlet, crank pulley, turbo timer, boost controler. The car is driven daily in arizona and it's starting to warm up. How effective is meth/water injection in these cars at moderate power levels? This is my buddys car and I am trying to tell him to do meth/water injection. I have a snow meth kit on my blown 95 mustang and it made a huge difference in power and inlet temps. How much boost do these cars see stock? Would the meth/water cooling effect be needed @stock boost levels or would it be a waste? This ad is not endorsed by this member. Its all up to your buddy whether he needs it or not, but i dont think it it a necessity. stock the car boosts 13-14 psi (correct me if im wrong). also water/meth injection is only good if TUNED for it. IMO he doesnt need a boost controller. Also no turbo timer is needed b/c the turbo is water and oiled cooled. hope this helps -520 |

| Amateur STI Driver | it does big time. I wasn't aware that he didn't need a turbo timer. thats pretty neat. isn't there power to be made simply by upping the boost? I'm aware that tuning needs to take place but I assumed you could buy a timer and up the boost for some hp and tq gains. Are the turbos already pretty maxed out? |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2005 Trader Rating: (1) | no the turbos are not maxxed out, they max out around 21psi, but you do not want to just slap on a boost controller and turn it up. I say he gets a downpipe and goes Cobb AP stage 2. He will definetly feel the difference Especially with a protune, it is over 300whp and even more torque i beleive. also his warrany will still be good and you can take of the AP in minutes so the dealer wont even know you had it. |

| Junior STI Driver | Stock boost is set to 1 bar (14.5 psi), a timer is always nice to have regaurdless if the turbo is oil and water cooled. Would you want to shut the oil and water off to your turbo right after a run ? the units remain spinning for about 1 minute after a hard run and the oil in the bearings gets hot and start to coke. 21 psi is out of the tubo's efficiancy and not a good boost to run. I had mine set to peak at this and now I make more power at 19 tapering to 16 by redline. As far as W/i is on a stage 2 car, Ill let you know in a week or 2 when mine goes in. I expect good gains out of running a 50/50 mix water / meth. |

I'll be sure to post when i get it done, I havnt heard of anyone that i can think of that have run it a stage 2 car. I just got the car tuned recently, and the meth will be tuned on the same dyno. I'll be sure to post my baseline vs protuned vs meth protuned. | |
