Default Pics of TEC TD06H w/ CM Housing and water vs. FP Green with Water

Folks..

Here we have two unicorns or former unicorns at least. On the left you will see a TEC Turbo TD06H w/ 8CM exhaust housing, with a water jacket comeplete with coolant banjos and lines that bolt right up to EJ25 Coolant lines.

On the right we have your 7cm green which also has a water jacket meaning that its water cooled. It does not have banjo fittings and does not have water lines. These need to be supplied by the user.

These two turbos use almost identical tubines, the TEC uses a GARRETT (no pun intended) .50lb per minute wheel, the Green uses a .49lb GARRETT wheel. Both compressors are Mitsu TD06H compressors. The exhaust housings are 8cm and 7cm respectively. Both Turbos are internally gated.

The 8cm TD06 is a turbo which previously did not exist due to relative scarcity of the 8cm exhaust housing. However availability of this unit is not going to be an issue from this point on.

Basically what we as subaru owners are banking on is that the additional size of the 8cm housing shown in the picture with the ruler will produce results above and beyond that of what the 7cm housing is capable of. Also we are very thrilled to see that all the TEC turbos will come with water jackets and water lines that will bolt up directly to existing hardware in the vehicle. The tec turbos come with all gaskets and are ready to bolt up.

Dyno results on a test vehicle that has the following mods are forth coming:

Perrin 816cc Injectors
Perrin Downpipe
Espelir Exhaust
ARC TOP Mount
WI
GT SPEC Header
ECT.

Big thanks to BBoy for all his help and loyalty, its sincerely appreciated.

If you have more questions on this turbo and would like answers directly from the source, please email info@worldoneperformance.com ATTN Garret, and I will do all that I can to take care of all of your needs.

Sorry for the stupid question, but I'm still learning my turbos. Is that a 20G compressor on both?

Shawn, are you going the TEC TD06H-20G also?

Yeah, hopefully next week I'll have it. Tired of running out of boost after 5k. Then maybe I can FINALLY get closer to Steve's times.

Hi there folks...

We are expecting the 8cm TEC turbo to produce about another 25-30 WHP on pump fuel and about 40-50 more horse on race fuel while still internally gated. Then, given what we have seen on greens with external gates, we are expect to see it make about 20 more once we mate it with our external kit.

Our external kit will include uppipe, and gate, and a dump tube with an option to go to dump back into our downpipe. We will have optional 44mm WGs. This is when we expect to see the upper limit of what kind of power you can make while still staying bolt up (non rotated).

If you have more questions about the turbo between now and tomorrow please email !

Thanks !

Nice, what EM are you going to run if any? I think you had the street tuner, right? Are you going to get custom tuned? Are you putting in injectors or just tapering the boost up top? I have a lot of ground left to cover with tuning, but I'm hoping to get the same turbo in 6 months or so, meanwhile getting a wideband, EGT, and the street tuner very soon. Time to have a little fun with the stock turbo.

Sorry for all the questions. I'm really interested in the details of your install and tuning. Would you mind if I tagged along for the install/tuning?

So you sell an external WG kit for the TEC 20G? I'm thinking of going with this route at the same time dumping into my DP.

I would expect more gains from the 20g turbo alone.
Here's a video of Steve's STi with the TEC 18g:

Yeah, I have the Cobb AP (not the street tuner option though). I think after I get the turbo installed, I might have it custom tuned and sell the AP. I know Steve isn't running any custom tuning and look how quick he is. The stock program at this altitude is adjusting well for his 20g while still retaining a good A/F ratio. Not saying thats the way to go but he's having great luck. At this altitude, we can run the stock injectors up to 23 lbs with a Walbro pump. It will be interesting to see what Steve runs this weekend. If I Keep the AP and do the Street Tuner option, it would be nice for others that are going this route since we can share the file if we have similar mods. You're more than welcome to tag along for install/tuning.

The TEC TD06H, looks promising!

Is this turbo "truly" a bolt on turbo. Does it work with the factory downpipe and uppipe(not that you would want to use them)? Do all the oil lines and coolant water lines hookup properly? Does the stock turbo inlet pipe fit? Does the factory STi intercooler piping work? Does this turbo interfere with any stock component?

What is the expected "spool-up" rpm?

What is the projected whp and wtq #'s?

How much $, and does it include everything needed to bolt up?

Is this a ball bearing turbo?

I am currently exploring the "bolt on" turbo market and would like to see how this turbo matches up?
