IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2005 Trader Rating: (1) | I have read the stickies on here and on Nasioc about meth/water injection and read a lot about these kits. I want a full failsafe too and mounted in the trunk. The coolingmist is the only one that can be mounted in the trunk. snow and aquamist say you have to upgrade the lines and some parts to put there kits in the trunk. So I'm going to go with the coolingmist. Mods will be 20g, tmic, cai, turbo inlet, 750cc injectors, 255 fuel pump, ewg, cobb tbe, protune and the meth. This is my dd and I do not want to push the motor past 400awhp, so to be safe 380awhp. The kits I'm looking at are Coolingmist Water Injection, alcohol injection and Methanol Injection systems $510 it comes with the tank and I need this Coolingmist Water Injection, alcohol injection and Methanol Injection systems or this kit Coolingmist Water Injection, alcohol injection and Methanol Injection systems $700 plus $115 for the tank and $130 for the gauge. With the first kit do I need the Vari-Cool, if I get the Vari-Cool what are the pros with it? What do you guys think is the Vari-Cool worth the extra money? With just the first kit can I set it to come on at, say 8psi? or no and is that why I need the Vari-Cool? Is anybody running either of these kits? thanks This ad is not endorsed by this member. If you want a gauge and failsafes for the price of your last coolingmist kit posted go with the aquamist hfs-5. You will get low tank failsafe,no spray failsafe, broken jet failsafe. for the same price as the last kit you posted. It will come with a gauge, and you can wire it for boost or idc. How to: Aquamist HFS-5 there is my howto of a trunk install using the stock tank. and a totally stealth install. Last edited by halfelite; 10-07-2008 at 10:40 AM. |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2005 Trader Rating: (1) | Thanks for getting back to me. Well on aquamist site it says if you put the pump in the trunk you have to upgrade the power line to a bigger gauge and put a small battery by the pump? Is that just bull ****? Nice wright up, so I can't use the intercooler spray anymore or can I? Do you use the ic line for the meth kit or do you leave that and run the new like? I have to add mit I'm not install this kit. A shop is but I want to know how it will work and if something goes wrong I can fix it. Thanks |

You lose the IC spray but if you are using meth you dont need the ic spray anymore. All in all it took me a few hours for my install. the longest part is taking out the back seat and taking the door sills up to run the lines. and to make it all stealth and mount the pump like that took awhile. If a shop does it make sure they wrap both the wires and the nylon hose in a wire loom helps so they dont get stepped on or poked with the staples that hold the carpet down. The kit comes with a highspeed valve to inject only when its supposed to it doesnt cause the lines to drain into the IC if you are parked on a hill. It will come with a flow sensor and the Gauge displays in a bar graph how much you are injecting if the tank gets low and if the failsafe is triggered. On the gauge you set how much is supposed to spray and if it ever sprays less it will cut boost and if it sprays more it will cut boost. I lot of kits dont have a failsafe for if it sprays more. Which i like because if your hose ever pops off the nozzel you know. It is very easy to run. Once its up and running all the wires go to a central dds board that would get wired in at the time of install. I tapped the idc and the power for the dds board which i keep in the glove box from the ecu. To make a clean install. So if you ever need to check a wire its all in once place. After its up and running the only thing you might need to change is the failsafe trigger points. But these are located on the gauge. There is a method on nabisco on the aquamist section the explains how to do this. If you msg richard over there he can be more help. He can also send you year specific ecu pinout so the install is clean. | |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2005 Trader Rating: (1) | Ok thanks, one more thing, I found some one selling a brand new aquamist hfs-5 never used for $760 plus he live close to me. For that price you can't beat it. How dose the failsafe work? Dose the light on the gauges just go on and that's it? Because it can't add fuel or pull timing because it's not in the ecu, right? Dose it open the ewg or the bpv if the kit dose not spray? Thanks |

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2006 Trader Rating: (6) | I have been running the Coolingmist set up on my car for 2 years now and no problems(failures) I have the Vari controller, from what I understand is you dont need it but with it you can adjust the flow of the pump according to your boost level. The Vari controller adjust the pressure of the pump higher as your boost increases. It started to spray at 10lbs(or wherever you set it) slowly then full pressure by 24lbs boost.(or wherever you set it) I also use my stock intercooler tank for my 50/50 mix.Again for 2 years with no problems. Its nice cause the level indicator in the dash still works when the meth is low. Last year I installed the Aquamist gauge to give me peace of mind. It lights up when the meth is spraying and if the flow is leaking the gauge will spike to say that too much is spraying, meaning the line has come off after the sensor or if it doesnt light up you have a malfunction before the sensor. The only problem I had initially with it is it wouldnt pump due to a bad ground running from the controller to the firewall That was my fault. I cant speak for the other manufactures of meth systems but I have called Coolingmist a couple of times on the phone after hours and they were there to take my call and answer my questions.
