Default Buying a meth kit, quick ?

Im buying a meth kit from labonte motorsports, and was wondering with controller to go with.

The Vc-25
VC-25 - 25psi Boost Activated Turbo, Centrifugal

Or the Vc-25d
VC-25D - 25psi Boost/MAF Activated Controller Mitsubishi

I know the latter is boost and Maf referenced but is that really needed? I was wondering if I could safely run the vc-25 like most other kits use just boost reference(smc, etc)?

You want neither of those. The best option would be the VC-MAF. The Mitsu MAF signal is different than the Subaru 0-5V MAF signal. You can also use the VC-MAF as a boost referenced controller if you want since both the MAP and MAF sensors on Subarus give a 0-5V output. You would just tap your input signal to a different sensor. This way you have flexibility to change down the road (with a tune of course).

So if this is correct won't it be the same thing?

In my opinion, the vc-boost/maf should be the best option, because you can do boost, MAF, or both. Assuming what you said is correct.

If you want to do just boost connect both signal wires to the map sensor (since they are both 0-5v). Same thing if you want to go just off of MAF, tie both signal inputs to MAF(since they are both 0-5). If you want to do both, just connect each signal to it's corresponding sensor.

I don't know about mitsu MAF'S, But I ordered a Labonte meth kit from THmotorsports and they told me it would work on the Subaru. Hopefully they have a Subaru friendly version that reads 0-5v for the MAF. I'll update when I get the kit.

I was under the impression Injector Pulse Width is a very good output to reference for Meth.

I'm sure it is, but those two type of controllers don't read Injector Pulse Width.

If you get the ISG-S3 kit it does IDC and boost to custom tailor your meth flow, its a really slick setup with a touch screen controller. We are putting one on our 08 next week. The Mitsu MAF is different than ours and is not compatible. As far as the rest of their controllers they do not do both, you get either boost referenced or MAF referenced. I do not think that wiring the MAF based system into a MAP sensor will work correctly even though they both put out 5 volts.

My recommendations to people when trying to choose between boost, MAF, or IDC/Boost is to talk to your tuner and see what they are more comfortable using. Some like to tune based on boost, some MAF and other like the more accurate(although a little more time consuming to tune for) IDC/boost.

Does labonte have a highspeed vavle like the aquamist kits to help better map the injection with the idc pulse?

The FCS-10 high speed valve is included with all of their kits. This is not designed to "pulse" fluid with the IDC pulse it is just designed to keep fluid from flowing out of the line when parked on a downhill. Their controllers are not designed to "trigger" the FCS-10 in that manner either, simply to open it when the system demands spray and close it when the system is off.

Ok. I got the kit. It came with the vc-25 boost only controller. I guess the mitsu MAF controller won't work with it as others have stated. It also comes did come with the solenoid/high speed valve. The kit seems complete and the parts look well made. I'll update I run into any issues.

So far the kit itself is really nice. everything on the standard meth kit works perfect. I'm using 100%meth and the pump/plastic parts are holding up perfectly well. My tuner mentioned that the spray is showing up very consistent as it rises, so it the rising pressure/map sensor circuit must be pretty well built. I'm actually pretty happy with the kit so far.

As for the failsafe unit: I am dissatisfied with it. I water tested everything and it worked 100%. As soon as I was getting it protuned it stopped working. I'm not sure if it's the 100%meth that messed it up or if it just broke on its own. I have to call Labonte and find out. I'll also be able to tell you about their customer service to see how they handle replacing this faulty unit.

I'll update as needed...
