| Amateur STI Driver | i need some help guys. my mom has a 2007 subaru wrx. 5spd. this is my moms car. she drives it like a grandma... it hasnt really ever been ripped on. and NEVER launched for sure. her tranny started grinding so i took it to the dealer thinking they wouldnt try and screw me over as bad as a lady. they came back saying that since i drive it sometimes i must of been abusing it and they want to split the cost 50/50. there is no reason for this, subaru needs to pay for the whole thing, its not like this car has been getting raced and abused. ive had my battle with dealerships and warranty work over aftermarket parts. but i dont have anything to back this up when it comes to a 5spd tranny showing signs of abuse. anyone got any brite ideas so i have a leg to stand on when i take this up with SOA? Like others have said, you can try another dealer, or since you're suppose to be able to get warranty work done at any dealership, take it up with SOA and you should be fine. |

They could take the whole clutch out and see the marks, when driving hard and doing clutch drops the clutch definitly gets some different wear, if they want to spend the time to take a look tell them you are up to watch them do it. Force them into a position that cost them more money to get your 1/2 of the repair and I'm sure they will just repair it. SOA is another option and just being stern with them. |

| Amateur STI Driver | well the dealer told me to take it up with SOA because it was SOA's decission to only cover 50% of it. wether thats BS or not i dont know. but telling them to just Prove it. isnt going to be enough. when i had issues on my sti about my aftermarket parts i told them to prove it and it didnt get me anywhere. when i took a fat stack of paper work on the moss magnusson act and threatened with a law suit and lawyers i got my way. i know there has to be something somewhere to physically take to them. even if its just words in my warranty suby gave that says they HAVE TO PROVE EVERYTHING. cuz when it come down to it, thats bull****. words wont get you anywhere, i need to find paperwork. |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2006 Trader Rating: (1) | Same thing happened to me with my syncros. They claimed abuse without ever seeing inside the trans. I called BS and called the regional rep. We worked out a deal that they would tear the trans apart and check for abuse and if it was indeed abused then I would be responsible for the repairs. I knew for a fact that I didn't abuse it so I told them to go ahead and pull it apart. Needless to say it was all repaired under warranty. Stealerships hate doing trans work because it costs a lot of time and $. Their mechanics hate doing it because it warranty work doesn't pay as well. You just have to stand your ground and get loud if you need to. I screamed and cursed out the service writer at my stealership with a room full of people around. This guy felt like such an a$$hole that he stopped arguing with me and started trying to work out a deal! This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
