Since you're in NJ, and they used to send the 6mts back to NJ for the rebuild why don't you just call your regional subaru rep. Someone hook him up with that number - I can never remember it.
I don't know the number but chances are they went to somwhere in cherry hill, nj which is where soa is located. No sure if that will help at all but figured i'd throw it out there.

uhh yeah soa knows about it and I have all the higher ups looking at my case. But my best guess is a bad rebuild the second time, the tech was going on vacation and probably rushed. The problems started way BEFORE the accident. I drove to the body shop with no wierd noises just grinding into fourth like (un) usual. As the body took all the damage no suspension parts were replaced. it didn't even need an alignment most likely becuase i was stopped.

Can you get a complete tranny? Why do they keep rebuilding it?

I have 65K+ miles on my car and no issues with synchros. I truly do shift like grandma, assuming grandma can double-clutch upshifts and downshifts. While I agree that the 4-5 synchros are a "weak" point in the gearbox (and so does Subaru, they replaced them with something better in '06), I also think a lot of "problems" people have with the 4th and 5th gear synchros are due to the car being so much fun to run up and down through the gears.

its not your trannys fault, if it keeps on failing, start looking at the tech who is rebuilding it... sometimes they honestly dont know what they are doing. its funny that they rebuild it. toyota doesnt rebuild trannys anymore, if it grinds and its under warranty, we just replace them.
