Default Radiator fluid gunk

2006 STi
Bought from: Kearny Mesa Subaru - San Diego, CA
Taken in to: Kearny Mesa Subaru - San Diego, CA

Mods:

Catback exhaust
Stereo
mudflaps

I went to check on my radiator fluid today and noticed some black pieces in the coolant. From just looking at it I felt it might be pieces of the end tanks on the radiator so I drove right to the dealership. The service manager looked at it and said he thinks its paint, but not 100% sure. He did some poking around in the resivor and we made an appointment for tuesday.

I offered to show him my maintenance record and he said no need as I have not come close to needing radiator service.

Hopefully all goes well on tuesday

I ha those too...flushed the system when I installed my Koyo radiator and they were gone.
It didn't worry me, car runs cool...don't worry but I'd be interested to hear what it is.
Good luck,
TomK

I'm not all too worried either, but I figure since its still under warrenty I am sure going to take it in. Worst case scenerio is I got out of an hour and a half of work today.

I was there at 7am and dropped it off. When I got on their little shuttle to take me to work at 8am they already had the senior technician working on it. Hopefully its all done by the time I get off of work.

Good to hear they jumped on it quickly. Let us know what they think it is.
Be good,

Well the service manager was cool. he had it written up as a leaky thermostat gasket to justify a full rad fluid flush. It was kind of a rubberish material. So I got the flush done and picked it up in the afternoon all good.
