| STI Driver Car: 2008 Porsche 997TT Fav Mod: Spinning Anywhere Under 60MPH Location: Naples, Florida Posts: 261
IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | So my friend has an 06 STi with an AP Stage 2 ECU, BOV, 3" TBE, and INJEN CAI, his AP is throwing a code "Cylinder 4 Misfire", the car has a hard time idleing, the car blows a little bit of white smoke when u turn the car on, and is stutters. Need to know if the Dealership will cover the car under warranty, keep in mind that the AP will be taken out of the car so they dont know, the axles and drivetrain were fixed under warranty with the same mods, the car came with a 3"TBE, CAI, and BOV when he got the car. But the last time he was charged 2000 dollars to replace a blown turbo due to a BOOST CONTROLLER... i know stupid right? some subaru dealerships are asses. they said that if the problem is not due to the aftermarket parts than the car will be covered under warranty but if no than he will have to pay $90 service fee and will have to cover the expensies to fix the car. IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2006 Trader Rating: (6) | So they won't know the car has an AP but the fixed things before with those mods on the car? WTF does he have a BOV on the car for? Might want to check the plugs for carbon buildup. Or maybe the car is about to pop the rings. My guess? No way it gets covered under warranty. Even if the AP is taken off, there will be other mods/signs of mods that indicate that the car has been futzed with. |

| Halliburton Mercenary | Hahaha, this is your friend's last thread: Low Boost on new turbo??? Readdddd!!! Like I said in that thread, ignorant modding has caused this. It is not Subaru's fault and will not be covered under warranty. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2007 Trader Rating: (2) | why is it stupid that they denied a turbo claim because of a boost controller? boost controller = more boost = harder on turbo... |

| Silver Member | ok, check all the plugs, wire and coil packs. a little smoke at start isn't a good sign, but it doesn't always mean trouble. As stutter/mis can be because of the plugs or wires or coil packs. The chances of subaru finding that it was actually something from the scooby with all those mods on there it not likely. So i would try and trouble shoot it yourself before going to the dealer. I can see how that is going to turn out already. This ad is not endorsed by this member.
