IWSTI Addict since: May 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | So, I've been in the market for an STi for a while and we gave Capitol Expressway Subaru a call and apparently they offer an unlimited mileage, no expiration drivetrain warranty... according to them they always have! There's got to be a catch somewhere... Has anyone seen/heard of this? Here's the best part... its free... This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

Called them... the 'offer' is exclusive to that dealership, but once you get the warranty, you can get it serviced at any subaru dealership (supposedly). From what the guy said, it covers everything a normal drivetrain warranty does, its just lifetime. |

Seems kind of fishy if that's the ONLY dealership (that I have ever heard of) giving that kind of warranty.... And if that is the only dealer doing it, why would you be able to take it to any dealer and get someting fixed? That dealer would say to you... "Your going to have to go back to the dealer you bought this from as our warranty is only 5 year bla bla bla"....

) that were going there specifically to not have to deal with the Stevens Creek dealership (notoriously bad service - VEEERY pushy salesmen), and they 'wanted something to set them apart'. I could see this kind of going either way in there favor or not... On the one hand, people could very easily abuse the warranty... on the other hand, its good business in terms of customer loyalty. Anyhoo... I bought a black STi from them and got the free über warranty, so we'll see how it goes I guess. Just another note, all of their warranties depend on you keeping up on maintenence and being able to prove that you have, the simplest solution being: have them do the service. Otherwise you have to be pretty on top of keeping your receipts I guess...

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | Think about this though. How many people dont do any mods to their STi whatsoever in say 100,000 miles? I bet they deny that warranty for anything at all you change in the name of power. In the end, I bet 99% of STis sold with this "uber" warranty end up costing them the same as other STis at other dealerships. |

I have never modded or have ever had any need to mod this car. Just like any of the "wiser" STi enthusiasts on this board have mentioned, you need to learn the skills necessary to harness the full capacity of the "stock" STi before you start modding it. I am yet to find a rational need to mod SKEELER. It is a fully-balanced experience that demands a lot of patience in the development of good skill. I drove it 25,000 miles before I ever went to do auto-x and on my very first run, I had a faultless run and it was also the fastest one for the day. The experience of owning an STi and learning how it functions on the road is just as rewarding as being the parent of a child prodigy and witnessing the profound abilities he or she can portray. Maybe it's because of the age i was when I got the car (32) and the age I am now (36), that I have such an appreciation for the various aspects of the STi, but when you drive a Subaru, you truly are "dancing with the stars."

I bet you take that car elsewhere at 75k and get something covered under the "lifetime powertrain" you will be sadly dissapointed.

IWSTI Addict since: May 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | Feel free to call and ask: 920 Capitol Expressway Auto Mall San Jose, CA 95136 408-723-9500 Needless to say, I'm a persistent individual, and if they try to screw me, I'm not going down without a fight. If they offer a lifetime warranty, and don't honor it, I'll go after their collective asses. On the other hand, it's not like I paid for the warranty... |

IWSTI Addict since: Jul 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | Yes but is this warranty with the fact that you can't have any modifications done at all? What's the fun on having a subbie if you can't mod it for it's lifetime just for the warranty? |

IWSTI Addict since: May 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | AFAIK, its no different than the regular warranty in that regard... so the fact that its free means you didn't pay for a warranty you can't claim against if they deny your warranty claim. I think this sort of comes back to the other threads though about 'will modding void my warranty' and whatnot. As for if this warranty is actually different about it in that regard, I don't know for certain... though there wasn't any special warranty paperwork for it with fine print, just a brochure, which could mean any number of things, but probably that the coverage isn't different (I hope) than the standard warranty. |

Just like any warranty if you mod the car and it is accosiated with the failure, SOA can deny it.

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | Dodge now offers a life time power train warranty. But I seriously doubt that they offer it for every vehicle like that dealership is saying. Sounds like bs to me This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
