Default NorthPark Subaru in SATX

so i took my 05 STi in for a warranty issue recently. the left rear cv axle seal was leaking at the rear diff. 35xxx miles on the car...yada yada. the service advisor calls me to say that the axle seal leaking was caused by the aftermarket exhaust on the car. i said "i call bull**** on that one"....since i found the leak WHILE installing the exhaust on the car. well, they did swap it out under warranty, but told me that it would be a one time deal and would not be covered again b/c of the A/M exhaust. even the technician told me that it was because the exhaust was too close to the diff (weird...it's mounted the same way as the OEM exhaust was)....what a bunch of ..

That's what they do bro, and I'm pretty sure it's because SOA is pretty tough about paying for warranty work, not the dealer (the dealer makes money whether it's warranty work or not, it just depends if it is off of you or off of SOA). Try to get in a good relationship with Tim Sanders because they can definately help you out when it comes to warranty claims.

i work at a dealership....i know all about how warranty shyt works. Tim ultimately took care of me and did so quite well. I've heard plenty of stories about how NP is ****tty about what they fix under warranty, but Subaru of Austin & even Gillman in ATX are much more reasonable...prolly has something to do with having Lincoln & mercury attached to the subaru service dept.

^^ Hmm, not sure. I never had any problems with North Park. Now that I'm in East Texas Subaru of Plano will be handling any warranty issues, but since I'm now past the 36k mark I don't think there will be any.
