Your wrong. Lock it and try to turn in a circle. That's the sound of your tires scrubbing on the road and the clicking and knocking is normal. You can really tell what's going on better on gravel.

allways sticky no response at thumbwheel for diff control(green lite flashing at dash control indicator)dealer say no falt shows on display but knows its a problem (21,000k)13000mi ,central america somebody help ,name of manufactuer rep for the area .or some idea's

Yes, you're wrong . Lock really does lock the front and rear drivelines to the same speed. And the front and rear diffs are not open, they both have limited slip mechanisms. And turning doesn't just change the speed of the wheels side to side, but front to rear as well, which is where this thread got started.

It is kind of funny how misunderstood the DCCD is, subaru should have gave owners a better description through the owners manual or have a write up on the internet somewhere. I mean people still believe it shuffles the majority of engine power either to the front or back wheels, when in reality it just changes the slip in the center diff. I am surprised you do not see more damaged center diffs out there.
