| Amateur STI Driver | My car has about 34,000 miles on it and whats happening is the clutch is kind of stuttering on its way down, hard to describe, but anyways, i took it to the dealer and hes telling me that they have to disassemble the clutch/flywheel and have it inspected by a subaru rep to see if they are going to cover it or not. the guy at the dealership seems to think that if the car is over 15000 miles they are going to say its not covered due to driving habits or such. my question is does anyone have any experience with clutch problems and subaru, do i have a chance at getting this covered or are they simply going to say its not their problem. im just curious if im wasting my time at the dealership trying to get it covered as a warrenty item or if i should just take it somewhere else and figure out what is exactly the problem and have them repair it. any help is appreciated Thanks Jarrett This ad is not endorsed by this member. Mine's an '06 with 11K miles and the clutch is starting to show signs of problems since the previous owner probably didn't drive well. THey said that the only way to definatively take a look at the clutch would be to drop the transmission and incur an 8 hour labor charge which would NOT be covered under warranty. Since they say that's almost $1000, I decided to jsut let them drive my car around to see if they woudl reproduce the problem. OF course they can't reproduce the problem probably becuase they would have to cover it under warranty given the year and milage of the car. Somehow they also took this as an opporunty to drive the car 45 miles! I dont' know where they drove, but I woudl STRONGLY recommedn against ever EVER EVER presenting a clutch issue to any dealership. You'll jsut end up wasting your time and possibly getting your car damaged. Instead take the car to a performance shop and jsut have the bloody clutch replaced with a better racing clutch or something. Cheers |
