Go get them replaced if under warranty, but get both replaced even if only one is clunking. I had one replaced but not the other. 30K miles later and the replaced one is quiet as a mouse. The other one started clunking right after my warranty ran out. Now I have to grease it every couple months - no big deal. But the replacement struts seem to be better then the originals.

You shouldn't have any problems getting it fixed under warranty with those mods.

However, warranty will not pay to replace both struts unless they both are doing it.

Do struts get replaced under the 5yr/60k or just the 3/36k?

I've been using the Mobil1 synthetic - the purple stuff. It works pretty good and lasts about 2 months. Someone mentioned WD40. That will work but probably wear off very quickly. I tried the white lithium spray and that lasted about a week.
