| Amateur STI Driver | Just here to rant. Those of you that have been here a while know that the factory rear struts are prone to developing a clunk sensation during take off. Some have had warranty struts replaced only to have the new ones do the same thing after not too long. That is my case. The first time Tacoma Subaru did them the inadvertently got the rear sway bar end links below the trailing arms as opposed to above the arm where they belong- it bends the cr*ap out of the sway bar and end links plus also chews into the aluminum trailing arms because a metal on metal event is now going on- they argued but ended up getting the parts to correct the mess up. Then recently we had strut clunk again- we took it to Auburn Subaru where they replaced the rear struts again. I cautioned them of the likleyhood of how easy it can be to get the end links popped down due to the short geometry while one is wrestling struts in and out...they almost seemed insulted. When the strut job was completed the service chump said "Most of the noise is gone, theres just a little from your aftermarket end links" I dont have aftermarket end links and advised service chump to review. He called back 15 min later and said the links were on "backward" and they just reinstalled them.... hmmmm thats a gay ass explaination---I just had the thing on our shop hoist looking for problems and visually everything was just fine. When we got the car back I looked under there and the end links are bent. There is a bit of a divot on the trailing arms where the had been popped down for apparently a brief period before they realized what they did- yet they tried to pawn off the bent end links on to me. NO NO NO NO NO NO I told him they checked out the vehicle prior to working on it and were that going on (it wasn't) they would have noted that then. So the retards are getting new end links. I should ask for new arms but I didn't - the divots are fairly cosmetic. CAUTION BEWARE OF THIS WHEN YOU GET OR DO NEW STRUTS ON BACK- ITS EASY TO GET LINKS POPPED DOWN BELOW TRAILING ARMS- A BAR, TWO LINKS AND TWO ARMS IS ABOUT 350.00 JUST FOR PARTS PLUS A REAR ALIGNMENT AND LABOR- IF YOU HAVE THEM DO IT This ad is not endorsed by this member.
