CEL on, cruise control blinking

Hey gang, I was going down the highway today with my cruise control set when the Check engine light came on and the cruise stopped working. The cruise control light is blinking but it will not let me set the cc. Any idea what may have happened?

Whenever the cel comes on, it automaticall disables the cruise control. That is why it is flashing.

I disconnected the battery for about a hour and it never came on again. I wonder if it was a heat issue or something.

it can come back. Usually 2-3 drive cycles.

Lol...I always wondered what would happen if one threw a CEL while using cruise control.
