Default OEM oil filter vs anyother brand....

I am going to change my oil tomorow, a Subaru dealer is at least 15 miles away. Should I buy one from Pep Boys or should I go to the dealer to get the filter?

Next time I will order one through the internet..

I think some one actually did cut open some filters and I remembered vaguely that OEM has the largest filter surface area, I say go OEM anyways and use some good oil.

+1 I saw that thread recently also.
I plan on using nothing but the OEM filter.

OEM or purilator pure one. I believe they are almost the same thing. There was a oil filter analysis on here somewhere...

The Black NOT white OEM oil filter is probably one of the best out there. Use that and buy a Fumoto valve to make your life easier.

Just because a filter has more surface area does not mean it is has a higher filtering effiency...one does not automatically mean the other. That's why there is industry standard ISO 4548-12 to determine efficiency. Common paper/cellulose isn't going to trap as much as a high-quality synthetic filter. Quality not quantity. You should send in an oil analysis of your own to blackstone or some such place.
