Default Here is a really really really really stupid question

I'm 99.9999999% sure that I know the answer, BUT...

Will the dealer replace a factory strut that has developed the clunk under warranty if I have lowering springs on the car?

Told you it was a stupid question.

i believe they will because subaru has been having problems with the struts on STI's mine has the clunk so i got springs to see if it would help it which it didn't and they said they would still replace the struts.

depends on the dealer i'd say. I'd probably say no, just because most dealers are pricks, and they'll see the springs and blame it on that fact. But you might get a lucky dealership and with competent mechanics who know that strut clunk is a common problem with our struts, springs or no springs. I'd say try it, can't really hurt...

edit: you can fix the problem yourself, if you can find the time to spare 10-15 minutes to jack the car up....just hit the base of the struts with some lithium grease and call it a day...

Most dealerships are gonna say no even though the burden of proof is on them, you dont have the resources to disprove them.

I think even the most lenient dealer will deny that warranty repair. Unless you are BFFs with the owner of the dealership I would save face and just fix it yourself.

Or put the stock springs back on before you take it in.

I tried for 3 months to get the dealership to warranty my strut clunk, and they never did and said they didnt find anything wrong with the struts. No clue how they couldnt hear it but whatever. So I just decided to put on my springs and finish off the stock struts and save up for ohlins or something else.

Dealerships are like insurance adjusters. They have to send the warranty claims to SOA. If they submit less of them to SOA it looks better for them because they are saving SOA money.

I had my rear struts replaced under warranty while I was running Pinks, not a word from them on the springs. Good luck

Mine didn't.

I pretty sure I fixed my right one but now my left is starting. I told the dealership to look at the left one just because I didn't feel like messing with it…. hoping they would just replace it.

They said with the aftermarket parts they can't pin point the problem or something like that.

I've heard of it being done but usually because they had there springs put on at that dealership.
