Do they actually know what the problem is, or are they just throwing parts at it right now, hoping that is what sorts it out.

Sorry to hear man. Hopefully after this trip to the dealer, everything would go back to normal, and that you won't have to bring your car to the dealer for problems again. Good luck to you!

Call the dealer and ask for the phone number of your regional subaru rep. If they won't give it to you, ask that he call you asap. I would get someone on the phone and not let them off until they have commited to solving your issues.

That's pretty interesting that they didn't answer. I had really good luck with them answering.

Did you try this link?

http://www.subaru.com/tools/contactus/index.jsp

I would copy and paste your letter in there.

I've used this link 3 times and they always answered.

I'm with you though, an STi ownership shouldn't be like this.

Well, just talked to the dealship and guess what? They installed my part and it still doesn't work. Even better is now, one of my cylinders just hydro-locked. Just awesome..... I'm getting a lawyer. This is too much. That car is done.

EDIT: Ok, in the meantime I've phoned SOC. The lady I spoke with was really nice and sympathetic. Problem is now, I don't even want this car back........ is that reasonable to say? I mean, honestly, I've only got 25,000kms left on warranty and after that the car will be (if it continues down this path) valueless. What should I do? Ask them to just buy it back off of me? I'm sooo pissed.

I would try to work a killer deal on a limited or an 07 and they buy back the car. Even if the car were in PERFECT condition, it would not be worth as much as a new car. However, you have suffered as a result of either a quality issue at Subaru and/or negligence on the part of the dealer. Either way one or both parties should compensate you. I would give them one final shot to make things right and then pursue a lawsuit. As my brother the lawyer says, the wheels of justice turn slooooooow. So shooting into a lawsuit may not necessarily speed things up.

Hmm sounds really crappy. I work at a VW dealer and when stuff like this happens ussually VWOA buys the car back. I would imagine that Subie would do the samething....

Whoa WHoa WHoa!. Out of control!

They hydro-locked your motor? Is that what they said? Did you drive it into a lake or something?

You definetly need a lawyer cause everthing Ive heard is BS.

There is no way to hydro-lock a motor while its at the dearlership being worked on.

It hydrolocked, but it was unknown what type of liquid was leaking into the cylinder. Anyways, we'll see in two days what happens when everyone is back from holidays. I'm going to be pushing for a buyback. Only problem is I just spent $1500 on a new killer brake setup

You might have a bad headgasket. If thats bad, coolant will leak into the cylinder and that can cause your car to hydralock.

If it was a leak big enough to freakn hydro lock the motor, there would have been white smoke billowing out the exhaust, the plugs would foul and look totally F'd up. I think I remember the OP saying the plugs kept fouling....Well isht....if they are fouled cause ther wet from coolant, you got a problem.

Did they take the plugs out and smell them? Its pretty easy to tell the defference between coolant and fuel.
