Default key fob tsb for being too sensitive

Just to let everyone know that has a 2005 sti they key fob is very sensitive and you can easily set it off if it's in your pocket or something. There was a TSB regarding thisy hypersensitivity and they are replacing the cases on remotes that are extra sensitive. They are doing on a request basis only, so you have to mention the TSB. I just had them order the parts for mine and I will post a review of the difference when they come in.

Sweet! I always hang my keyfob outside my pocket because of it being overly sensetive.

Also, my chirp is dead (the physical chirp, it's not merely turned off) so I can't even hear it if it accidentally unlocks.

Hey, I'm up for that. I set my alarm off every few months just from keeping the damn thing in my pocket.

*raises hand*

Happens to me, too. Especially with jeans and bending down or something.

Cool beans! I'll have to mention it to my dealer. The keyfob has driven me nuts since Day One.

just an fyi... my dealer would not just give me the parts to swap, I had to bring both transmitters in so they could swap the parts and reprogram them. so if you are going to get your key fobs updated bring both! I am going this Thursday to get mine swapped.

Yes that fob is different. I have a feeling that is what the new fob will look like since the unlock button looks like it would be harder to accidentally push with that set up. Good find!!

update: yes they are swapping the front cover for the one linked in the 9th post here. It has a smaller unlock button flanked by raised areas to help prevent accidental activation. There is also a more pronounced ring around both buttons that is obvious in the picture as well. We will see if it goes off when I squat down or stick more then one key in my pocket.

^ mmm im still not convinced to drive 70miles to get the top exchanged. I was hoping for a new design. Any info on if the 04 fob is compatible with the 05 alarm/keyless entry?
