I use the Purolator Pure One PL14610 from Autozone, Advance Auto, Walmart, etc. WolfPlayer has done a ton of research on this and rated this one as second only to the OEM filter.

Edit: Moved this to the Service forum.

No, you can use either one. I can't remember which, but one is slightly larger than the other, but they both work fine. Carry on. If you really want to get into the nitty gritty of it, look here:

Here's the thread that started it all:

Edit: The 14610 is larger than the 14612, but they both work fine.

Thats quite relieving. Pep boys seems to carry an abundance of those. Thanks

I thought purolators are just re-labeled Fram Filters? I heard Bosch premium filters are good ones to use. I believe the 3310 is the one you want, I imagine the STi uses the same one as the WRX.

does anyone have an opinion on the k&n oil filters, I put one on the last time because I thought that the 1" nut on top for removal would be nice. Hopefully they do a great job filtering too!

the nut is nice for removing the filter, but really you should be able to hand untighten your filter, I have many times

As far as opinions on different filters, see the spreadsheet I linked to above. He's compared quite a few.
