Default BS from service writer re: strut clunk

I just took my 05 STi in to have the strut clunk repaired yesterday. He (service manager)sent it back and gave me an 800 number. I called the number and spoke to Kim, who said she would call him and the dealer. The service manager at Herwaldt Subaru then called me later and told me blah blah blah... Subaru is working on "something big" and that there is a fix for this issue in the near future and that they would take care of my struts then even if it goes past the 36k warranty. He said the problem is not in the strut, but in where the strut mounts and they could replace or repair it, but the noise would come back. I am very frustrated.
(so basically tough s*&t for now)
I bought some lithium grease, and tried it, but the noise did not go away. It was not the white spray lithium grease, so I'll buy that today and give it a shot. I just do not know. I really do not want to fight this guy at the dealership because he has been very nice today but that noise is freakin irritating when it is warm out. (over 80 deg) He even gave me a free oil change in advance, because I think he expected the fall out.

Maybe I'll just get some Whitelines but if they make the same kind of noise, what is the point? And I have been saving money so I can pay my car off in January. Grrrr!

Now Im rambling. Thoughts?!?

ps. I know I know there are a million threads on strut clunk...but I thought this "fix on the way" might be something new.

Did you try different dealership? i went to the original dealership where i bought it, they replaced the mountings. Then the noise came back within 2 weeks, i was very pissed off. so i went to another dealership since any subaru dealership will do warranty work on it. They replaced with new struts and mounts, and told me that these are the newer version. So my advice is try different dealership.
