A small piece of advice, dont post pictures of you car while you work on it the way you did. I'm sure you work is very clean but dealerships might use this against you. I had my dealership deny claims for much smaller things. There are tons of subaru techs that post on this forum. my .02

If your step-pops is mr. electrician, tell me why he you dont have your radar detector hard wired into the system as well. Throwing that thing in the dead center of the windsheild is just an invitation for theives to bust in. Hard wire that sucker in and mount it as high as you can to the head liner.

BTW i believe it is your TGV valves malfunctioning! (thats what happened to me) If it is only on cold starts that is. (or you could do like me and break an engine mount and rip out the wiring harness)

it's only gutted temporarily while we do the roll bar, seats and harnesses, rixxy. i still haven't figured out what we're doing with the rear seat. i'm considering finishing it off with a removable cargo bin or something utilitarian since it's useless for passengers and it's still my daily driver. we're saving weight everytwhere we can short of dismantling the front passenger interior acutrements as ben has.

AmeenR, because that doesnt always stay in that car. it moves thru out about 3-4 cars sometimes. and i dont always like seeing it in my window so sometimes i just take it down. and thats what i have insurence for, let theives break in i really dont care there isnt much to steal except a POS system lmao.

Last, no it really is the something in the wiring harness, something keeps comming unplugged under hard accel and it causes a short. i asked my dealership to show me what it was so i wouldnt have to keep comming back and they told me they couldnt do that.

brucechapman, thats what i was guessing since you still had your window switches hanging and all that good stuff lol. and the PVC pipe didnt look right, guessing it was a templet? lol still the look of a gutten suby gives it such a race look lol. post pics of that roll cage, as soon as i break 13's which will be really soon ill have to have one if i still want to race :-(

that's naked chromoly, not pvc. btw, we're going to paint all the plastic interior trim on the pillars with that ford color that matches our dash. we're also painting the chromoly in the same color too, so it visually disappears.

not really. 11.99 and under. we're doing a roll bar now since we should be deep in the 11's even with me driving it. once we hit 9.99 or a 135mph trap we'll expand it to a full cage.

from nhra.

A roll bar is required in any convertible running 13.99 seconds or quicker in the quarter mile, and in other cars beginning at 11.99. The roll bar is accepted in vehicles running as quick as 10.00 second e.t., provided the stock firewall and floorboard is intact, other than for installation of wheel tubs. The rollbar must be constructed of minimum 1 ¾ inch o.d. x .118 inch wall mild steel tubing, or 1 ¾ x .083 chrome moly tubing, and must conform to the following diagram:
<TABLE align=center><TBODY><TR><TD></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
If the floor and/or firewall has been modified, then a full roll cage is required beginning at a 10.99 e.t. A full roll cage is required in any vehicle running 9.99 seconds or quicker, and any vehicle running 135 mph or faster (regardless of e.t.). The roll cage must be constructed of minimum 1 5/8 o.d.x .118 mild steel tubing, or 1 5/8 x .083 chrome moly tubing, and must conform to the following diagram:

Theres a known problem with the electrical system, that will make a radar detector go haywire upon WOT runs when plugged into the cig lighter for power. Mine did it when i first got the car (prior to hardwiring in in). I have a valentine 1 and it also gets switched around to a couple cars throughout the month. All I do is undo the two suction cups and unplug the RJ11 connector(power) from the V1 and tuck the 3" black cord above the sunvisor. Simply clean plug-n-play.

Its electrician....

Give us a break dude.....You come in here whining about an electrical problem, then we see pics with your interior torn apart WITH WIRES ALL OVER THE PLACE.

Ask yourself this question, do you honestly think you'd have the problems you have now if your car was completely stock and untouched?

Didn't think so......

brucechapman, ok kinda thought so after i looked at it again lol. first glance i was thinking plastic just for using as a template. but still it looks good cant wait to see the finished result. now at our drag races, which is they close off a air plane run way for a day and have it there any thing under 13's soft top or hard top you need a rollcage, there was a couple eclipse that got DQ'ed last year for hitting 12's because they didnt have roll cages. its a small town thing and they take saftey to super hi levels lol. and everyone has to wear a helmet no matter how slow your car/truck is. its pretty dumb

now however in portland at pir, im sure they follow NHRA standards. not sure on roll cage rule but i know anything under 14's is required to have a helmet.

ask your self a question have you ever seen a picture of something in progress? you know that stage between finished and not even started? thats why interior is torn appart and wires all over the place. you take the carpet out to run the wires nicely under the carpet. you take the panels off to change the speakers.....

i HAVNT TOUCHED THE WIREING HARNESS. how can i be screwing that up... oh how about this i had the car for 3 days before it went into the shop for this reason before i ever touched the car. got it out and like 4 days later (still stock) it went back into the shop SAME PROBLEM. now i started putting mods and this is the 3rd time its been in the shop. for the SAME problem. honestly read all the post. i stated that the car has been in the shop like 3 times already for the same issue and its less than a month old.
