I started using royal purple motor oil last summer on my regular WRX, I can't really say if there is a difference power wise but I will say the car consumed less royal purple then it did mobil-1. Since I got the STi all I have used is royal purple and again can't say if it made any power difference, so far so good though, I will continue to use it over mobil-1 unless I can find something better then both that is still less then 10$ a quart.
