I'm at 22K and might have just heard my first. Not 100% sure yet because it isn't really a "clunk", more of a "clack".

Does it come and go? Because the past couple of days I can hardly hear it anymore? Most likely it stopped because I have an appt. to bring it to the dealer tomorrow. Once I call them and tell them I can't hear it anymore then it will start again.

I called the dealer and told them that the sound went away and they said it could be because of all the wet weather and that it would come back. Sure enough the 3 days I stopped hearing it, it was raining like crazy for all 3 days, and now that the weather's dried up the sound has returned except it's not as loud as it was before. It doesn't seem like an emergency so I haven't made another appointment, maybe I'll just try the lithium grease, however the other struts don't make any noise, it's just the passenger rear, so maybe I'll just have them change it. Of course if the others start making the noise then they'll probably just tell me to lubricate them regularly.

Does the dealer lubricate the struts as part of a scheduled maintanance or anything like that? This seems like such a common occurance I would think that if the struts need to be lubricated at regular intervals then it should be done at the dealer during scheduled maintance visits.

I had the passenger side rear strut swapped out yesterday under warranty. So far the clunking has completely gone away. The other struts seem to be perfect. I hope this is a permanent fix. As long as the car is under warranty if any of the other struts develop the problem I have them swapped. However if the new struts start to clunk after a while, I guess I'll just except it as "normal" for the design and periodically lubricate them as described in this thread. Either that or I'll get a new suspension set up, something more aggressive.
