So, let me get this strait, the Subaru dealer told you to get the car serviced at the ford lincoln mercury dealer. Then when you get there the STi guy is not in that day, but they tear down your car anyway. Now they want to put it back together with duck tape and chewing gum? I would let them hold onto your car till the STi guy gets in and when he does have him check over the car before you drive it. It is one thing to have to get a ride from a friend to work, it is another to take delivery on a jery rigged car only to have it blow up in oyur face 5 miles away. Also, on pick up, I would insist speaking to the service manager imediately explain the situation. Dont spare any details or outrage either. Also, reporting them to the BBB, SOA etc... is a good idea, suing not so much. The first thing to assess before threatening a law suit is what your actual damages are monetarily speaking. Here, as long as they fix your car free of charge and provide oyu with a loner, you dont seem to have any. Talking to a lawyer is always a good idea when your legal rights are in question, but dont make threats until you KNOW you have a lawsuit.

Too bad you didn't have a camera to take pics. I take my car to North Park to do oil changes and tire rotations because they are cheap and I know they can at least handle that (and they do have Subaru specific mechanics, but I've never been on a Saturday). Who did you talk to, because I've only dealt with one Subaru service manager and his name was Tim. If you ever need anything like this done again I'd recommend driving to Austin and getting your car serviced at MZM. I don't even think I'm going to let North Park even change my spark plugs just because of things like this. I haven't had a problem like yours, but I've had two instances of where my car has been dented after having work done there and thankfully Tim took care of me the second time because I made sure we walked around the car before and after work was done (which he then had someone remove the dents and it looked as good as new).

Tim is the guy that NP Subaru told me to take my car to... but he was off. Lou Ann Cabrera of NP Lincoln/Mercury ended up handling it instead. Nobody ever told me that Tim wouldn't be there that day

*GULP* Looks like I'm going to Austin from now on.

I want to thank everyone who has commented for the support and suggestions. I've emailed my story to SOA as well as North Park Subaru. Hopefully, I've lit a big enough fire for this service department to realize that they're not going to get away with screwing me over.
