$1000 for maintenance up to 36k miles

Bought an '06 WRB STI today and the dealer was telling me about pre-paying for scheduled service. $1000 would cover everything up until 36k miles. Is it worth it or am I better off to just pay as I go? What is the total price of service up to 36k?

If you are Triple A or Costco they guy quoted me $850 for that package. I opted not to get it.

the dealer gave it to me 860+tax which came out to be 1K or so. I figure it will take the majority of the weight off for me for 3 years. They are pretty pushy with it. Just another ploy to get more money from you. I figure I can go to any dealer to get my oil change and stuff anyways i'll be ok.
