Ya know, this is all great, but should we be bragging about the reliability of our cars now? I mean 6k miles, 7k miles 14k miles? Most cars are reliable at this stage of ownership. To me it's expected. If this car or any car gave me problems this soon, I'd get rid of it instantly. How about 5-10 years from now? 80k miles, nothing but basic maintanence. 120k miles, not a single problem. 180k miles, no probs, still runs as good as new. I guess this makes us feel better about our cars, but it's very meaningless for most of us. One day a thread like this will have some serious validity, and I really look forward to seeing the STI long term placed in a scale of cars such as the corolla, camry, accord, and civic. Ok, maybe not, but one can always hope.

Only problems I have had I created because of mods. We all know Subaru's are built well.

35K miles and 25 months on my 04.
wty repairs to date:
1) alignment to fix a pull to the left that should have been caught in the PDI.
2) clunking in right rear area, found to be a lose mount for right rear belt reel.
3) strut clunk - not replaced yet
4) cruise shuts off - tested and shown to be shifter switch, not replaced yet.

I only have 14,000km on the car and it has been good so far. Subaru Australia are very fussy about warrenty. They supply it for 3 years however if you modify the car they are then quick to blame the modification on the problem. Part of the reason as to why I am reluctant to actually modify so far.

I'll agree with you on that. May just have to work the suspension in a bit more Do some midnight slaloming.

Same here. I have my mods sitting in the storage closet in my place. Seems Sub of America are pretty picky as well. I posted a thread on this as well just today. Hop on over.

I had the coolant crossover pipe fail at about 4k.

as in this thread Well, it's leaking coolant... (Added pics)

Luckily I was close to home so I made it to the dealer ok.

I've only driven about 800 miles since then.

Default Engine rebuild

It's been 4 weeks, but at 5,000K needed an engine rebuild. Dealer sent it to Subaru. Everything was fine before that.
