IWSTI Addict since: Jul 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | OK It's update time, with Pics! The new water rail arrived yesterday afternoon and they have put most of my engine back together today. (The lady said my engine was out and on a stand a few hours ago.) SOA was out there at some point investigating why this part could have failed so quickly. Sorry for the camera phone pics, I stopped by on the way home from work. ![]() Close up with coolant still sitting on top: ![]() And the whole mess as it sits now (intercooler and intake manifold are on the table behind it): ![]() Tomorrow it should be done. Final wrap-up, they replaced the water rail, put my engine back in, intake manifold back on, hosed down the engine to get rid of any smelly antifreeze deposits, road tested it and now I have my car back. This procedure also involved disassembling part of the A/C system, which meant recharging it again too, as well as Power steering. When I picked it up tonight the service advisor told me they just got another one in with the same problem, only 1700 or so miles on that one! Here's the invoice: Last edited by RichXKU; 02-03-2006 at 06:51 PM. |

| dances with roads | Rich, glad to hear you are back on the road. Would you mind if I retitled this and moved it over to the Warranty forum? With two cars having the same issue I think it might be useful information there. |

IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | I had a coolant leak a while ago, I think it might have been caused from a hard downshift, but they replaced the "upper assembly" not exactly sure what all that included, probably should have asked. But it's been about 20k miles since that and no issues other than a loose clamp they forgot to tigthen heh... idiots. |

I'm trying to recreate the conditions that may have started it last time: Playing in the snow, warm engine followed by being parked outside a couple days in the teens. (it's going to be nearly 60 Friday, followed by 14 Saturday night) |
