Default SOA'S Answer to all your broken 06 mounts

Got a car in today for the second time with broken engine mounts. Subaru and its dealers will be installing 05 engine mounts in 06 cars with broken mounts.
The End

Why did they change to cheap plastic mounts in the first place? Seems like it will cost them more in the long run now.

I think the Japanese car companies believe that Americans hate excessive vibration even though it is a performance car They already think we're all fat with the wider seats!

Americans ARE fat.

As for the motor mounts, didn't they have liquid in them or something also, or am I thinking of totally different car? I guess it was to cut down on vibration or something.......

Anyway, I have an '05 so I guess I need not worry about the mount issues on the '06s!

You were right sir: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=107124

"Its 2.5-liter 300-hp flat four remains unchanged, although liquid-filled engine mounts have been added to reduce vibration."

Well- I called my dealer today and they still could not let me know when the mounts would be in...so I called SOA to see if they could expeditite it. The guy on the phone basically said I better put the OEM axle back exhaust back on or it might not be warranty!! Are you kidding me?? He said because of the extra power it made it could be contrued as the cause for the broken mounts. OK-so a car with an exhaust on for like 50 miles is going to shear the motors mounts off. YEAH RIGHT! This car has 414 miles on it and 100 of those were gong to the dealer and 58 on delivery. This has me pissed off, they know there is a problem with the motor mounts on there $34,000 car and yet they try to blame me!! Anyone want to buy a 06 WRB/silver with 414 miles??!! Sorry about the rant, but i have not had the car even 2 weeks. Andy

You just answered your question - because subaru thought they would be cheaper when they put them on. Someone probably cut them a deal on the price for the junk ones.

BTW, I believe I have read about a recall in Australia in regards to the new mounts failing.

I dont think you are right about that. These mount are actually more expensive then the 05's.

Come on man!! dont you want your $36000.00, 300hp, 300tq, rally car for the street to ride like a lincoln town car! I think the problem here is that Subaru is trying to hard to get the people that are driving BMW's to switch over. And to tell you the truth, ITS HAPPENING!! To many complaints of "it rides to hard" "there are too many rattles" blah blah blah.... I deal with it all friggin day!

I dont know why they did it. I think that they "thought" TOO much. If I had one of these cars, Ide tell the dealer to subtract the difference for the Group N's and have them install those for the warranty. I dont know if they would but Ide give it a try.
I dont know all the answers to all the questions. All I can tell you is if your mounts break, you are getting 05's installed.

doubtful, i'm doubtful that they will even put 05's in if they break and claim on warranty...maybe once more people are getting it, i will believe, until then guilty until proven innocent.

not saying anything about you "evil xt", but not all dealerships are that nice....

I am glad to hear that they will be replacing them when they break with the 05's mounts. I don't have my STi yet, but will be in the market between July and September of this year.

On a side note though, it amazes me to hear all the complaints about harsh ride. I have ridden many times in my friends 05 STi, and the car was quieter while driving than my 98' Ranger XLT pickup truck. And i was expecting a noticeable hardness to the ride and didnt experience that either. This was in West Virginia mind you and we went over like 3 railroad crossings during the trip and it was no more harsh than a 4x4 pickup over the tracks. So it must be only the "cushy" car customers that have this problem with ride quality and noise. Personally, I love it all and can't wait to have mine. my $.02
