Default Turbo covered in the 60K powertrain warranty?

I am curious if the turbo is covered in the 60K powertrain warranty or only the 36K bumper to bumper warranty? I have read/heard about a lot of VF39's cracking on the hot side. If I am still under warranty if/when this happens to me, I will get a free VF39. If not then it will be turbo upgrade time.

The dealership told me the turbo was not covered, but they were trying to talk me into the extended warranty, so it could have been BS.

Your dealership is full of it. If it came with the car it is covered. Now if you meant covered under 36K or 60K, that's a different matter (though I would imagine it is covered under powertrain - I'll see if I can find it.)

OK very interesting, check the Powertrain section out for 2005:
http://www.subaru.com/owners/warrant....jsp?year=2005

It clearly lists the "Turbocharger Assembly" as being covered.

Now look at the 2006 warranty:
http://www.subaru.com/owners/warrant....jsp?year=2006

Notice anything different?

Why did they remove the turbocharger assembly from the warranty for 2006?

Sounds like a good enough excuse for me to upgrade if/when it cracks.

But yeah, it's part of your powertrain warranty.
