There is no reason why they cant tell you what the deal was.
Unless they don't really know and only looked into it enough to determine that it wasn't owner abuse.

Well, I just got her back. I didn't say anything about what happened to the old engine. I just didn't really feel like raising an issue at all as long as the new one ran fine.... which it does!!! yay! And all it cost me was $28.45 which was how much I went overbudget on the rental car (I had it upgraded from a sunfire to a x-trail, heh). They said I have to take it easy for the first 1000kms and then bring it back to them for a check-up/oil-change. I'll probably baby it for quite a few more kms after that as well. YAY, I'm soooo happy to have it back. Unfortuately now I realized why I was just about to order a new sound system before everything happened. GOD that system sucks..... lol. Anyways, thanks again to barrie subaru, great job!!

That is it, word for word. Under the ammount section for all of that is was listed as N/C (no charge). I'm not sure what most of that means. Well, I do know what most of it means but not all. Anyone think they can get a full grasp of what happened? Does this hold a clue as to what happened to my forsaken engine? Is this confidential and am I going to get introuble for posting this?
Oh, apparently 85 hours of labour is listed for how long it took. Any help would be appreciated

That just looks like a list of parts they needed to replace the engine. An engine and a bunch of gaskets and clamps. And antifreeze

Not sure what the oil level was. SOC still has my engine. I'll ask the dealer. I'm pretty anal about doing the oil changes on time etc. The oil light literally came on 0-5 minutes before the engine cut out. I'll find out and post next week.

The STI has a pressure light but no level warning light. I changed my oil 4 weeks prior to my engine not having 1.5 quarts which did keep the light off.

I bet you saw the light when your engine stalled and thats normal.

If I have this correct
- you don't know how much oil your engine had in it when it seized
- you might have seen an oil light 5 minutes prior to it seizing
- you got it fixed completely under warranty at no cost to you

If I were in your shoes, I would thank SoC and the dealer profusely, back out of the door smiling and waving, and never, ever ask what went wrong with your old engine.

I don't know if that was directed at me or not but I never saw the oil light and my engine never seized. I brought it in as soon as I heard the metal clanking. Also, I hadn't even put on 1000kms since I had bought it and the dealership I had bought it from had assured me they had given it a full tune up which included changing the oil and filter so I didn't even think to check the oil levels yet....
