Mine VIN is under that. Guess I should get mine checked. I do occasionally hear some odd noises from it.

You do realize that is all from 2001-2002, right?

I've merged your other thread (from the Drivetrain forum) with this one. Please don't cross-post like that as it scatters the information and replies.

Thank you.

Interesting...regardless of its authenticity, my vin is above that (518882), no idea on the motor number though, have to check that when its light outside.

There is still no confirmation, in fact there is one dealer denying it.
It was 2 threads a few days ago...i suppose they merged the 2

talked to my dealer this morning he looked it up by vin and told me (as I assumed) "there were no outstanding recalls on my vehicle." I explained to him the symptoms the recall was meant to fix and he stated he has never heard of such a noise in those particular circumstances. Funny I was just there about 3 months ago with this exact complaint.... maybe he's new I'm 5L511___ so I am defininitely earlier production. We will see huh.

Does anyone know if there is a technical service bulletin out regarding "clutch shudder" for the 05 STI? I did a bit of serching and there seems to be one out to remedy "noise from the rear differential area" but I couldn't find anything on clutch shudder. I was driving around last night and noticed that if I was cruising in any gear off the gas and then hit that gas the car jerked a few times before it got going. I don't recall this being how it was OR I am getting paranoid reading about all these problems. Is what I am experiencing clutch shudder. Again it does it in any gear when the accelerator is pushed before accelleration is smooth, no shifting of gears either.

That's not "clutch shudder". That's probably from the RPM's being low. Clutch shudder happens when you are engaging the clutch; the disc and flywheel grab onto one another in fits and starts instead of nice and smooth. It's kind of like ABS for your clutch.

I had it in my '00 Legacy GT; it took SoA 3 years to finally admit to the problem and issue a TSB. Since I had been griping about it since the car was new they gave me a new clutch at 63K miles. Nice SoA.

i thought that it was low RPMs too so i tried reving up to 5-6K letting off like 2-3 seconds and then hitting it again easy and it seems like it hesitates even from high rpms.. (by then 4-5) it feels like there are 2-3 jerks before the accelleration really gets smooth and stong.

Nope. I just got back from the dealer.
They said "there is no open recall". But I still had them checked on my squeaky clutch. They lubed it, and said that they might have to replace it, if the noise gets back
