Default Found My Oil Drain Plug Loose!!!leaking Oil

i just had my oil changed by my local subaru dealer a couple weeks ago,and when i was about to pull into the driveway i saw a decent sized black mess where the front of my car would sit.when i went up to it i felt it and it was oil,so i looked and felt my undercarriage to see if i could figure out where it was coming from and i found that it was coming out were you drain the oil because the plug was fairly loose.i dont understand why i didnt notice this before but my oil light never came on so i guess i wouldnt have noticed till i saw the oil on the driveway.but i checked my oil and it was ok but what should i do? should i just leave it alone or just tighten it up and go tell my dealer so they take better measures next time? i mean i could play dumb and let the oil drain out and have my engine blow to where subaru would have to give me a new engine, but im not that kind of an a-hole,but it is tempting.im gonna go tighten it and then tell the dealer tomorrow,i guess i just wanna know what you guys would do in this particualr situation.

You already said what I would do: Tighten it, and tell the dealer tomorrow.

As long as you aren't low on oil, everything should be fine. Double check the oil in the morning when cool before you drive anywhere. You should keep some oil at home anyway, STi's have been known to burn a little bit from time to time...

Reason #496 why I don't do my own oil change. Years ago I found a puddle where my roommates car was, she had just had the dealer change her oil and the plug was only finger tight. She was pissed, went back to the dealer and I think got her next two changes for free (she is good at raising a fuss).

Do your own oil changes if at all possible.

i think i would tighten the drain plug and tell the dealer. this is why i change my own oil, can't even trust a dealership to change the oil right

Bring it back to the dealer and tell them you had to add 3 quarts of oil to bring it back up to level. Get it documented, and maybe you will be covered against future engine failure.

I had a dealer do the same thing to me, my car lost 1qt of oil over two days. During those two days I went to the dragstrip and made a few passes... could have turned out real bad if the leak was worse.
