Default Keyless Entry

I've been having a problem with My keyless entry. I first noticed when a friend parked his STI next to mine. My "chirp" was higher pitch. Shortly there after it stopped "chirping". A few weeks after that the that the parking lights quit flashing. It still operated the locks but no flash or beep. Took it to the dealer and they tried to reprogram the BCM. They got the lights to flah again (for a little while) but no chirp. The dealer said they need to repalce the BCM. Went back for replacement and they had ordered the wrong one. Went back a week later and they replaced it but had no change. They said they didn't know what was wrong and needed help from Subaru. They also told Me mine was one of four reported cases of this so far. It goes back Tues for a supposed fix..................

Anyone else have this problem?

mine went as well. It is a little buzzer behind the grill and it took the guy about an hour to do. He said water gets in there and screws it up. I also noticed a different pitch.First a lady locked her legacy and i noticed that hers sounded different and then when my car was done i unlocked it and MINE was different. The guy said if it really bothered me he would switch it again but i wasnt going to be a pain in the a$$. They like me there and i want to keep it that way.

There is a quick fix for the turn lights to turn on again. Open the co-driver's door and hold down the unlock button from your remote for 5 seconds. That should fix the lights.

Try pressing the unlock button on your key fob, then holding both the lock and unlock buttons at the same time for a couple of seconds (supposed to be 2 seconds.) You should hear it beep; if not your beeper is broken. You can turn the beeping on or off with this little procedure.

Could be in that Valet mode....I think you have to have the drivers door open, and press and hold on the unlock button, you should see the security light blink or something, but if it doesn't blink anymore, that means when its "armed", the alarm isn't really armed but in valet mode (had this happen to me a month ago, so vaguely remember), but check with the manual, thats where I found most of my information.

You have to take it to the dealer to get this feature turned on.

I also had problems with the beeper going high and then it finally stopped. I got it replaced by the dealer and have had no problems since.

Is this method for all STi's? I have the car in Valet mode, but no matter what I do (read the manual and tried everythign) I still can't get my car to arm itself. I lock the doors, press unlock once, open the door then press and hold the unlock and nothing! The Security light still flashes when the system is not armed. I will hopefully get it into the dealership but I would prefer to figure this out myself so I don't look dumb hahaha... Actually my beep doesn't work anymore, or I should say it works once in a blue moon (damn thing has a mind of its own) so I probably should take it in to the dealership.

In order to arm the car you want the car out of Valet mode, not in Valet mode. While in valet mode if you press lock or unlock on the remote you should hear beeps (but your beeper isn't working) but not see any lights flashing. This means in your current situation that you car would only lock and unlock the doors when you use the remote (since your beeper doesn't work and you are in valet mode). If for some reason when you do hit lock or unlock on your remote and you see the lights flashing then this means you aren't in valet mode, and therefore need to take the car in to see why your alarm isn't working. While in valet mode you can press the lock button on the remote 3 times and you should hear your horn honk and see the parking lights flash 3 times. Your manual tells you how to get out of valet mode, and I believe it is to open a door and hold the lock button on the remote for 3 seconds or so.

Also, you need to take your car in anyway to have the beeper replaced. Mine went out on me about a month after getting the car and I had it replaced under warranty and haven't had any problems with it since.
