This means in your current situation that you car would only lock and unlock the doors when you use the remote (since your beeper doesn't work and you are in valet mode). If for some reason when you do hit lock or unlock on your remote and you see the lights flashing then this means you aren't in valet mode, and therefore need to take the car in to see why your alarm isn't working. While in valet mode you can press the lock button on the remote 3 times and you should hear your horn honk and see the parking lights flash 3 times. Your manual tells you how to get out of valet mode, and I believe it is to open a door and hold the lock button on the remote for 3 seconds or so.

Also, you need to take your car in anyway to have the beeper replaced. Mine went out on me about a month after getting the car and I had it replaced under warranty and haven't had any problems with it since.
Well I took my car in today. They ordered a new buzzer for my car.

If I hit lock or unlock I get the lights flashing but no beep. Even if I follow the Buzzer instructions under the FOB. The car is stuck in Valet Mode somehow and I hope they will take care of it when I get the new buzzer later this week.

How do you know if its out of Valet mode?

Your lights are flashing so it's not in valet mode, so therefore an alarm sensor or something must not be working. Make sure to also check your fuses, but if you let them know your alarm isn't working they should fix it for you.

i did this to my car and my friend's STi when i installed the alarm in it. if i remember correctly, it's two clips that you put together under the door sill on the driver's side.

you have to remove the door sill, and it's towards the front of the car, (all inside the car of course).

They ordered the buzzer and I think when they install it they will diagnose the system again. I don't know if my car has a schock sensor or not...Is there different levels to alarms systems. By that I mean could i just have a keyless entry system so the lights will flash etc. but there really is no alarm? What comes standard on STi's?

Had this problem right after I swapped out spark plugs in my car. Obviously the battery was removed and was in fact the first time I had the battery disconnected for any length of time.

But, you were right. Hold the unlock on the remote for 5-6 seconds with the front-passenger door open and poof. Lights work again. Didn't read that in the manual. Good stuff.

Default keyless remote buggy

my wifes STi has a buggy remote issue---the beeper was replaced due to the lack of beep feature- and thats working.
But at times you hit the button twice and both doors don't unlock. Sometimes- very intermittently- the drivers door power lock mechanism will make a sick ratcheting sound.

Anyone elses had demons exorcised???

(I like how the Ford setup works in the Expedition I had and in my Cobra---pretty straightforward and nice trunk pop feature.)

Does anyone have a part # or link for this beeper? I'd rather replace it myself than bring it to the dealer. Thanks
