Angry I think I am going to lemon my baby!!

Guys, a little help here. I bought my STI on May 04 and I lot of problems arose recently. The check engine light keep coming on. So far, I have replaced the fuel gage, fuel sensor, g-sensors, oxygen sensor, timmer belt tensioner, timmer belt, gas cap, and fuel pump since.
Anyway, since I have this car for over a year, does it means that lemon law is not going to cover it. The car have less than 1500 miles.

1. Slow/non-responsive gas gage
2. DCCD light on
3. Gas leak
4. check engine light on....

Now you know how I found all the problem.

From what I understand of lemon laws it varies for each state. The jist of it though is you have to provide the dealer an opportunity to fix the problems before considering it a lemon. I thought the magic number was 3 times.

Maybe that STi is getting back at you because you don't drive it. 1500 miles in 15 months? WOW. Seriously though, there's no way this car can be classified as a lemon, unless you've already taken it in more then once to have same problem(s) fixed. Any one time problem, regardless of how many there are, doesn't justify anything more then bad luck, and them repairing car under warranty. The only thing you can do is take it to dealer and have them repair the vehicle. I also recommend actually driving the car, because after all, isn't that why we buy cars? Good luck!!

Thanks for all the replys.
This is actually my weekend ride. I have another **** box i drove to work everyday. That's why it doesn't have a whole lot of miles on it.
I have been to the dealer at least once a week for the pass month or so, for the gas leaking and check engine light problems. It will be the third time I bring it in for the check engine light problem, which will happen pretty soon cause the dame light came on again!

sounds like you only have one or at most two issues that the dealer just can't seem to really fix. I suggest going to another dealer to see if their technicians can better fix your issues. The CEL is related to either the DCCD issue or the gas leak issue, and is probably not a unique problem.

BTW, the slow/inaccurate fuel gage is pretty much normal. To prevent the phenomenon be sure to have the key switch completely turned off when fueling.

I'd say you have two issues to be concerned with and both should be easy for a competent technician to diagnose with some cooperation. I'd bet putting some more miles on the car would allow for the issues to resolve themsevles as stated.

Post the CEL codes and more advice can be given.

Good luck with the issues.

Having an 04 with that few miles on it you more than likely won't like the amount of money they would give you for it if you lemon lawed it anyways. They only give you what they determine to be market value.

Indeed. If you drive a car that little, you are never going to get your money's worth, and you will get the same amount for it as if it had 5k miles. Time makes a car just as old as mileage, and does eventually catch up with it. My advice is to get out and drive it. With 1500 miles in 15+ months, that should be a crime.

Well well well....
Got the car back from the dealer after 4 days of torturing by that piece of sh!t rental. The dealer claimed that they found cracks from the fule hose, and that should explain the check engine light problem. Drove it for a couple of days and it seems fine.
Well...let's wait and see.

Simple-sounding problem, but one that definitely could have been hard to pinpoint. Fingers crossed that you're good to go.

In NY, the dealer has 4 tries to fix something within 18K miles or 24 months. OR, and this is the big one...30 cumulative days out of service due to repair. I have an '05 CTS-V that has had major driveline clunk, differential failure, and suspension creak/clunk since new. I have 4300 miles in 3 months and it has been outofservice for 14 days. I'm bringing it in for suspension clunk again. Should I reach 30 days, I'm out and into the STi I wanted before I got the V.

I hope the dealer fixes your issue, but if they don't check your state's lemon law.
Good luck.

So I wonder how many times the rear struts have to be replaced before the car can be considered a lemon? Sorry about the hi-jack.
