Default Did the dealer void your warrenty for TBE?

I am considering getting a TBE for my car, and I was wondering if the dealership voided the majority of your cars because you have gone this route? I tried calling my dealership, but they haven't gotten back to me yet. Thanks

Best thing to do is call and ask as there are a lot of different variables. If you throw on a TBE and are overboosting and hitting the fuel cut every day (which they can pick up on) then yes, I am sure they will void the warranty; however you should check and make sure they will/will not allow this as that will vary from dealer to dealer.

yea that's true...i mean just having it shouldn't be a big deal BUT if things start to go wrong because of bad adjustments and running fuel cuts, etc then they will hardly imposed a rejection on the claim

OK, here comes the standard "The dealer can't void your warranty based upon you modifying your vehicle" post.

The dealer cannot simply blanket void your entire bumper-to-bumper warranty because you put on a TBE. They have to prove that the modified part caused the failure. If you put on a TBE and your headlights malfunction, they should not deny the claim because the two are unrelated. However, if you put on a TBE and boost creeps or spikes and causes you to grenade your engine; well, I would think that they would have a legitimate reason to believe that the modified pipes caused the failure.

All that being said, Subaru builds a car that they will stand behind for a specific amount of time (warranty). If you start messing around with their work, components will not operate as they intended them to. You should always have it in the back of your mind that you may need to pay out some money to fix any problems your modification directly caused. As they say, you gotta pay to play. This isn't to say that all dealers are alike, but don't let anyone tell you that your entire warranty goes up in smoke because you modified your car.

why tell the dealer you have a TBE ??

when you get stoped by a cops .. do you tell him you have run a red light 15 min ago ?

IMO. get the TBE ... be SURE you are trouble free (no boost CREEP, no overboost) maybe a EM should be buyed in the same time .. get tuned. it's a little bit more bucks .. but you will be in peace after that .. (AT LEAST BUY GAUGE . egt(or A/F) - boost - oil temp .. something like that)

and do all oil change by ourself or by a qualified tecnitian OTHER than the dealer. if some warenty work have to be done .. you have to remove your TBE and EM.. it's not a big deal for me .. since working a couple hours to keep my full warranty it's a good price to pay

in any way your dealer should know you've modded your car. if you have never hit fuel cut .. or overboost .. they have absolutly no clue that you have a TBE (since you remove it before you run to the dealer).

and it's the same for the em .. it's for that reason i will go to a piggyback system .. i dont like the idea to reflash the stock ECU (it's trackable).

but the subby dealer here have told me he can install the TBE itself and it'S warranty !!

look carefully.. he's warant the installation and aftermarket part ... they dont warranty it for the original SOA warranty !(dont get BSted sine it could cost you a bunch of money)

FYI

I am in Canada and my whole warranty was voided due to a TBE, I am fighting of course. The official term they used for pulling my warranty was "branded".

It's been 1 month and I am still waiting for a registered letter from them.
