Cool Car won't start!!!!!!

I have had this problem like 6 or 7 times now, the car just will not
start. I turn the key, but it just won't turn over. I have to wait like 30 to
40 sec and press the gas a few times and then try, and if I am lucky then
it just might start!

Has anyone seen similar problem?
I am taking my car into the dealer next week, I hope they can fix this
fast.

Man I love the STi but now I am starting to hear all these stories
about strut clunking and transmission issues, and I got my own startup
problem.

Maybe I should sell it HAHAA.

Yea, sometimes mine does that. Try letting the gauges do the "sweep" then try turning on the car. I read in an old thread about the engine having to refill fuel pressure or something. It does this while doing the sweep.

Red face hasn't happened for 2 days now

Well .... I got no engine mods on the car yet, the battery is charged - as far as I know, no stereo stuff, I do press the clutch all the way down before turning the key.
I do have an appointment on 7/25 at the dealer, so lets see what they say.

But atleast now I know I am not the only one with this problem.

I was thinking at first maybe it might be the gas i was using, so I have switched from exxon to shell v-power, lets see if i get this problem again until the 25th.

I'll let you guys know what the dealer says.

Peace OUT \\//

I dont know to much about electronics but it sounds like a relay might be getting stuck. if you had a voltmeter you could have someone try turning the ignition while putting the voltmeter on the starter and see if the power is getting to the starter. if it is and the car is not starting then your starter is crapped out. if the power is not it means the problem is furether back in the wiring and you have to work your way back. or you just take it to the dealer like you said and not have to go through all of this trouble hahaha.

Mine refused to start once, after which I started doing the same as suggested above. Hasn't happened since.

Smile

alright guys,

I went to the dealer today and they tech actually checked everything in the engine and found no problems. But then he tried plugging the car to the computer and there was an error about the key not being a valid imobilizer key. The tech says that if the imobilizer system senses a faulty key it will not let the engine turn over.

So, the probable cause of my problem is the chip inside the key, it is probably currupt in some way. He recommended trying to use my other keys and see if it take care of the problem.

And next time I go in they will replace any keys that I got with faulty chips.

So that kinda makes sense.

Unhappy

My car just got towed to the dealer on a flatbed becasue it would not start either... the battery was fine (could use lights, alarm, keyless and radio) the car would just not turn over, i let it sit for a while and tried again, started up for like a 10th of a second and died again... couldent get anything after that. Anyone have any ideas? It was fine, drove it all day parked it and when i came back- no go. I was previously playing with my DCCD for the first time driving agressivly with it set to the back in loose gravel. I was driving agressivly but not launches or clutch drops or anything.... any guesses?
