Default Am I too quick to judge?

Am I too harsh?

Ok I got my CMG STi yesterday. Whoo Hoo!! Love that new car feel. Even paid the administration fee because I didn't feel like bargaining. I ask the busisness manager how many kilometers on it? She says, "About 100, they usually test it from the factory and it comes with 100."
So I smell BS because all my new cars are usually around 16 km and less. So the car had 56 on it. Ok that's a little high, but it came from another dealership and someone probably didn't want it. Still, the business manager lied. (Big surprise... they sell cars for a living)..
So I get into my car and turn the key. The alarm blares and that I am used to because I do it all the time in my Talon. So I hit the disarm button and start the car. I ask the sales person, "OK, it's -30 degrees, and the battery in my remote is dead. How do I get the car going?" Sales lady says, " I don't know. I 'll get the tech." (Correct answer, she's never lied yet)
The tech comes and says, " Oh that never happens, the battery last a long time." (translation: I don't know, but I hope this answer makes you go away)
Well the answer is in the manual and I know it after reading it.
I have little patience for BS. I work as a family doc and I treat people with honesty. When they ask," Doc am I fat" I say, ( like your ex-husband would say but not your current husband) "Yes you are. You need to lose 20 lbs, do you want some help?"

Ok, my question. I see BS at the top of the dealership, I see BS at the tech level, and they give me free oil and filter if I bring it back to the dealership for the scheduled maintainance. My feeling is that they will look for things that don't need repair and repair them to make money. Most guys here do their own maintainance. What is your opinion, trust the dealer? (which I don't,and we only have one) or screw them and become an STi vagabond, only going back for warranty repairs. Thank for your responses.

if you have doubts, find another dealer.

no sense starting off your relationship w/ this car under these circumstances.

i feel for ya; that's crummy of them not to level w/ you.

Just go to another dealership. I had to go 17hrs to get mine, but I got it from a very good dealership, with a very good salesman. I won't take my car to my dealership except for warranty work and my 30,000 mile service. Good luck

For service it's a bit of a stretch, his next closest dealer is 360 miles, or 460 miles, or 490 miles, or 830 miles.

B*tch to Subaru of Canada if your not happy, they may ask the local dealer to smarten up.

Default RE: Anyone in SoCal going to an HPDE in April?

Ah thanks guys,

I figure that I should just say no to any added extras that they want to do and get it checked by an independant mechanic that I trust. I just sense red flags when I bought the car, and I just won't trust their word for anything. I must say though, this car grows on you. The god aweful styling (IMHO) I first thought it had, has become a charming accent to an otherwise finely built car.

Thanks for you opinions.

Default Re: Mobil1 75-90 Gear Oil

I developed a good relationship with the service department at my dealership, and i still bring it to them for simple oil changes and wheel rotations. i just make it a known fact that i know what my car needs, and how it's running, so if they do tell me what's wrong i should be able to go into the garage and point it out myself.

If a dealer EVER fixes something on my car and doesn't ask me if I want it fixed or how much it will be I will refuse to pay for the part or the extra labor to put it on and take it off. If they try to make you buy more stuff tell em to F off.

The dealership "scheduled maintence" typically goes way beyond what is in the service manual (mostly charging you for "checking" and "inspecting" things.) More than enough to cover the cost of the "free" oil changes. So they will be making plenty without looking for bogus things to repair.
