Nope sorry there was a nut but it was painted completely over in pink. There not adjustables but it would have been nice.

Are we talking pink like in that pic posted above??

Or just the STi red, like the intake manifold-red?

Crap!

Would be cool of you if you could post the part numbers (located in the shaft of the strut) so that we can see if Subaru is finally replacing the struts with newer ones ...

Accoring to the dealership they were
R/S 20360FE701
L/S 20360FE711

But according to other forum members this is an old replacement. But when my dealership called the tech line that was the part number given. I dunno my car rides good for now so i dont really care. Ill try to find a number on them when i get a chance.

Default RE: Thinking of moving to Tein Flex from Pinks...Thoughts

Add me to the list. '05 with 19K miles and clunking on passenger side rear. I have Hotchkis bars, pinks and group N's. Suspension was stock for about the first 10k miles.

I initially called my dealer asking for the cost on the struts assuming they would deny me coverage due to the aftermarket parts. They said, no they would cover them if they were bad due to my springs still being a Subaru part. We'll see. This is the same dealer that a) told me pads weren't covered under the 3/36 and b) told me the prior clunking in my suspension was caused by my aftermarket bars (turned out it was 3 very loose endlinks that they didn't even check). I have low expectations.

I'm thinking about compiling a database of all STi owners who have the problem, how many times and how the dealers have responded including the number of times the parts have been replaced. I think this information attached to a well written letter from any one of us might get them to start acting on this problem. Hopefefully even a TSB.

2005 with 7000 miles. I just noticed it the other day when I installed my rear cobb sway bar. I also have pinks and top hats. Its coming from the rear passenger. So does this mean that my strut is blown or just making funny noises? The noise only seams to happen when I am driving slowly. If I'm on the freeway I never seem to hear it.

Brought my car into the dealer yesterday and they determined that the problem was a misaligned spring; they said they've been able to fix it but judging from all your previous posts it doesnt seem likely. I can just hope now. Well, at least I can install my AP now that I just received. WOOHOO!

I got the clunk too... but only in when I am barely rolling over speed bumps or inside an apt. complex, and barely pushing 5 mph or so...

Funny thing is, after putting the springs on... my clunk is gone (been going on for 20k+ miles). I haven't heard it since, granted that doesn't mean its gone or it wasn't the struts, but maybe its something else in the suspension line (Endlinks, Struts, Sway Bar, etc)?

I first heard my rear struts clunking last summer ~25,000, dealer found no problem. Complained again, at ~30,000 dealer replaced driver rear strut mount, which didn't help. I continued to complain so the Dealer arranged for their Subaru rep to drive with me to diagnose. We didn't even get out of the lot and he heard the struts knocking and approved replacement of both rear struts, which the dealer ordered.

I hope the new struts help, but I'm not optimistic. If the clunk returns I see a set of Whiteline coilovers in my future.

Vader - from my limited experience with the strut clunk (on my roommate's 04sti), those are the times when you hear it most.
... hmm.. ok. But yeah, I might look into upgrading to get rid of that noise as well. Whiteline coilovers sound good.

Got mine replace with NO questions asked, had the car into the dealer for my free oil change and asked them to look at the right rear srut.
"it clunks"
They said yep it's defective. They did not change the mount and they gave me the same part # that was already on there.

We'll see what happens in another 10k miles, or if the other side goes out.
